Alright so i got this Yugo about a year and a half ago at a gunshow.. It was 200 dollars and still soaked in cosmoline, which is a great deal here in NY, where you have SKS's going for around 400.. Upon initial disassembly I found it had a pretty much new trigger assembly, no marks, burrs, 100 percent finish on it.

Well ive had a few problems with it. First was the gas regulator...It was corroded pretty bad and you could see it was a bit too small, so I replaced that with a stainless steel one, Helped alot with feeding and chambering, which it often failed to do, I think because it wasnt getting enough pressure. Havent had a problem with that since.

Okay so next I was having trouble with light primer strikes..I first attributed this to a dirty firing pin.. So I cleaned the crap out of it and the firing pin channel, soaked both of them over night, and they were completely spotless the next time I shot..Well I still had the problem.

So I decided that the fact that the firing pin was graduated, and was going into a graduated hole didnt help much, so I got a murrays firing pin... Now it wont fire at all. I have to recock 3-4 times to get a round off.

Now heres what im thinking now...Should I shorten the spring that came with the Murrays FP? I have what looks to me to be good hammer/sear engagement

Yes, over and over and over and then soaked it in mineral spirits and then cleaned it again and then soaked it once more and then cleaned it

Check the cross pin that holds the firing pin in the bolt if it's got a burr it could be slowing the firing pin down the firing pin should move in the channel with no resistance and the tip should protrude past the bolt face when it's forward. Otherwise replace the hammer spring.

I checked everything two days ago, cleaned it up perfectly...and shot today, its gotta be the hammer spring like you guys said... Where you guys recommend buying one? I know Wolffs is the go to place for springs, but I see they only offer a reduced power one - would that work alright ?

I'm hoping they do since I'm putting one in this weekend. I have already installed the reduced power sear spring and polished the sear, works great thus far. What I would like to know is, will it work fine with the Wolff reduced power hammer spring with a spring loaded firing pin installed??? I don't have that particular firing pin yet, but it is certainly a consideration for the future....

make sure your bolt is locking full forward, my yugo sometimes doesn't like to completely lock, and i get light strikes when it doesn't
