Got an AKSU with Tula Star marking, and I could use some insight on wether its genuine or fake. What makes me ask is that the star is tilted. Can anyone please determine its authenticity. thanks

Being able to see the SN would help. What year is it? Mine is a little tilted but not that much.

Also, I don't know of any that came with polymer non-vent handguards after looking at the close up pic they look wood.  The earlier kits from around 83 had vented handguards, the later kits from around 86 had non vented.  They may be aftermarket. I also don't have any markings where you hid the second marking.
Hope that helps, how's it shoot on FA?

Someone engraved that trunnion to match the gas tube and other parts without knowing that the serial number is typically longer and the components only have four digits of the full serial. Also, the kit used looks to be Bulgarian, which would explain the unmarked trunnion. Arsenal imported a bunch of kits early on that didn't have any markings on the trunnion.

ETA: Also, how do you have a full auto in Cali? Assuming that the third pin isn't fake, but then you're not supposed to have SBR's either. Are you an SOT? Just curious, not trying to call you out.

Was going to post this.  Engraved Bulgarian kit.  The star was added.  Not very well either it appears.  Either way, nice rifle.  Must be a fun blaster for sure.

Looks like an unmarked trunnion like my Bulgy Krink has except someone did a poor job engraving it to look like a Rusky. Looks like they engraved the gas tube as well.

ETA: Apparently he posted that pic in the AR pic thread and people told him it would be a good idea to take it down, and he did. I'm guessing not legal.

He could also be involved with the movie industry in some superficial way. They get a free pass from CALDOJ. I know guys who have done T/A training for actors that were able to get them to sign off on it "for training purposes". There are also guys who do LEO training that get a pass.

Are all you guys federal agents? The guy is asking some technical questions and now this thread has turned into an indictment.

How about relax and let law enforcement do their job, if applicable, and we as a community stick to giving each other information?

I don't get it, but I am intrigued.

We as a community DO stick together.
We're all law-biding citizens that enjoy a LEGAL hobby.

This guy doesn't fall into that category.

This is the number one thing that ticks me off about this website.  Dudley do-rights at every step.  I'm not saying some people don't do things they shouldn't, but there are a whole number of ways they could be legit FA guns.

If you don't KNOW what you are talking about, ask a question, don't make a statement.  You'll seem like less of a douche.

The M16 is an actual Colt M16A2.  I'm pretty sure he didn't make that roll mark in his shed.  It seems pretty likely that was acquired via legal channels.

Given his location and lack of knowledge it's safe to assume that he's not an SOT (but he may still be). Also given his pictures of him in uniform, he's probably military. That M16A2 lower has an commando barrel attached to an A1 upper. In all my years as an armorer in the Marine Corps (and worked in Army armories), you'd never see that config in inventory. Not to mention he has it pictured next to a personal 1911. As to the AKSU's, there's a slim chance that they're military property, but since he has them pictured with parts kits, I highly doubt it.

If you read from the start of the thread, we did ask. The statements came after the OP disappeared when the question was asked. Of course, they may very well be legal, but the magic 8 ball is showing "doubt it".

You are right, his Photobucket profile picture is of Sergeant Major Jim Snow from Arkansas and cropped from this story http://www.nationalguard.mil/News/ArticleView/tabid/5563/Article/887/face-of-defense-brothers-serve-together-in-iraq.aspx  People wanted to help the OP, but they wanted to make sure they weren't helping a criminal.  The OP disappeared after he was asked "How do you posses NFA in CA?"  It was a simple question.
