THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT
I just received my completed 1986 Tula build and there is a lot of play in the gas tube/upper hand guard, its just kind of annoying, doesn't affect function but none the less bothers me. I did some preliminary research and it seems like a good few others have had the same issue but no one that I could find posted a solid solution, how do you eliminate this extra play in the gas tube? Any input would be really appreciated.

lots of krinks suffer this. Go to the kitchen and pull out the aluminum foil. Make shims. Mine did it until I replaced the lower HG retainer (I broke it ) and when the smith put the FSB back on it it didn't rattle anymore.

The long term fix is to press the FSB closer to the receiver until the play is gone. If that's not an option some people have taken the tension springs from AK-74 gas tubes and modified them to work with the Krink tube. Never tried it myself, however.

Could you take a pic of you modified it? I've seen others say that's what they used but I haven't seen it yet.

I'll take a pic on Monday...im in Vegas baby! you do have to make a 90 degree bend on the spring...still pretty simple and quick.

Here is the spring on the gas tube. It fits rock solid. I actually need to use a screw driver to pry the little detent out from over the gas tube. There is no rubbing of the carrier and the rife has worked flawlessly.

Haha, I was actually just thinking to myself, "I wonder if that guy posted those pics he said he was going to do on Monday." Clicked the thread and BAM! Thanks for the pics. Glad I kept all of those springs from my Saiga conversions.
