These kits have been out a little while now. Does anyone have one of these completed yet? If so, please share the details.

I'm looking for info on these kits as well. In fact I haven't bought one yet.

I've been looking at the M85 kits to use the NATO ammo. It would be my first build ever, although I'm handy around a machine shop. I'm just not familiar with building firearms.

I do have my own two bay garage with a 20-ton press and welding equipment to work with, so I'm not starting empty handed or skill-less.

You should definitely start with a cheaper/easier kit than a virgin. I suggest picking up a Romy G kit with an original barrel first so you can see how things are supposed to look and go together. With these M92/M85 kits nothing is done for you, and it takes more than your equipment to put one together properly.

"Tactical" is a mindset, not an equipment list.

Thanks for the advice. Actually I've almost convinced myself of that already. Just because it's no more complicated than most automotive systems - in theory at least - doesn't mean it's the same thing. Having one to take apart would probably be more helpful than anything else, but that's expensive too.

I do all my own work on my bolt action, lever action, and handguns. So I'm not totally out to lunch with firearms. But the concepts of a gas cylinder operating the bolt aren't quite the same as the power steering cylinders. It may still be a piston in a cylinder, but it's different in more ways than one.

I looked around at the Rumanian Kits, and they're all over the map for prices.

Is the best strategy watch and wait? Or do you search and buy because they aren't going to go back down?

Original barrel kits are going for $350 on the forums. They'll just keep going up so long as the barrel ban is in effect, so don't expect prices to go down. If you want some experience on working with a virgin kit you could pick up a Romy barrelless kit and get a virgin barrel to build. Barrelless kits are about $175 and a virgin barrel is $100 or so.

that's kind of what I expected to hear. So the best deal is jump in sooner rather than later. Waiting only costs money unless something changes that cannot be foreseen. And those changes can be negative as well as positive, so why wait.
