Arrived yesterday! Just ordered a sling and some bakelite mags! What would be the most legit magazines to use on this 86 Tula?

Built by Troy at InRange...

and a nice accessory...

Was looking my Krink over last night. Looks like the sight on the top cover is ever so slightly canted!
Anyone have issues like this? It is also not perfectly symmetrical at the hinge section. Taking it out to shoot this afternoon. I guess a range report will answer some questions

That's pretty common for AKSU top covers. Don't worry about it.

Soooo my new Krink is jamming

What happens is that sometimes when I charge the gun, the carrier doesn't go all the way forward and the round becomes "stuck".
The same thing happens on ejection sometimes too. I was firing Tuul 5.45 and it is a Bluejack barrel, I'm not sure which version, but I bought it about 6-7 months ago and it was part of a fresh run. It is from an Rguns kit and built by Troy at In Range, who I am also sending an e-mail to.

Did Troy test fire it? He will take care of it, though that sucks. I had some issues with a Bulgarian 5.56 that he built. It turned out to be a pressure and mag problem.

I wanted to post some praise for Troy at In Range. I emailed him late last night and he got back to me this morning saying he would make sure it gets right no matter what. Troy has always been great about responding in a more than timely manner! Great guy.

he built mine too, and it runs like a top. I truly believe he will do good by you. Good luck!

Experience any keyholing with the cut down EG barrel?

OP, if you're having feeding problems I would look at your mag first. Pics indicate you were running an aftermarket mag in your Krink. Aftermarket mags have earned a bad rep for functionality issues. Get some Eastern-Bloc mags (Russian, Bulgarian, etc) and try running those. You'll quite possibly fix your problem. While I've never dealt with Troy directly he has a great reputation for doing excellent work. I would try my suggestion before I went sending the rifle back as I am certain Troy tested it before he sent it.

As for your first Krink, welcome to the club! You've got yourself a peach. I remember when I got mine a few years back how stoked I was to FINALLY get mine. Took nearly a year as I bought mine out of state and took two transfers.

Havent shot em yet, but I bet they work better. And yeah, Troy said ditch the Tapco mags. It was all I had at the time...

When you're charging the action don't ease it forward. Draw it straight back and let it go. Unless it is really rubbing on the hamer or somewhere in the receiver. Aks are tough because of they way they are built. No two are exactly alike. Its tough to slap a kit on a receiver that is universally made for krinks.

as for the failure to eject, is it stove piping? mine did that some until it got really dirty and broken in. More details needed on that. Also if you have a pipe cleaner or a guitar string or wire, you could take the gas tube off and use a flash light to poke through the gas block/front sight and find the hole down too the barrel. Something could be in there or it could not be partially blocked. Something tells me its probably the hammer rubbing the bolt carrier. It may need to be polished up some. You could also try some grease on it too.

I installed a quadrail on my Yugo and tightened the bolts down a little too much and it made the carrier a bit stiff but does not interfere w/ the action under normal conditions
