THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT The seller did shoot it, but you really can hardley tell. No bipod. The SAR 1 (2000 model) is still NIB, with a lot of grease. Also 4 chinese ak mags were thrown in.....NIW Since I'm not an AK guy, but could never pass up on what I think is a good deal I bought them from a co worker who is lacking funds. I paid $700 total for both. How did I do? Keep or sell?? |

Just called him about the cert and while he says he does have it (Origional buyer), he just moved and has no clue where it is.
Everything else is there (no box), including an extra top cover with a rail. Been reading up on the SAR, I think your right. Price will only go up. |

Long barrel is the only strike against the Maadi. Some guys like the paper work that was shipped with the Maadis. It will not do anything for price really. The Sars have a deep following so guys jump on them faster than some other Romanian rifles IMHO.
MAADI INFO http://www.ak-47.us/Egypt.php Semi automatic AKM rifles were/are imported from Egypt. These rifles are mfg. by the Maadi Co. for Engineering Industries Maadi-Cairo,Egypt. The factory was shipped to Egypt lock, stock, and barrel from Russia. The Russian's set up the factory for the Egyptians after they got there arab butts kicked by the jews in the 60's. The pre 1989 ban rifles were only imported by Styer. The post ban rifles were imported by ACC/INTRAC of Knoxville,TN, Pars International Corp. of Louisville,KY and Century Arms International of St. Albins,Vermont.
![]() Sar info. http://www.ak-47.net/ak-47/sar-1.php he Romanian SAR-1 is a stamped AK and does not feature the cut out seen on so many WUM-1 rifles. The rifle also has the side scope mount seen on the earlier versions. The fit and finish of the rifle is much like that of the older sporterized Romanians. The rifle is finished in an eastern block finish that resembles parkarizing. You will also notice the furniture on the rifle is miss-matched the buttstock tends to be light brown where as the handguards are an orange like color. The shooting ability of the SAR ranks "good" among AK's. The Romanian SAR can reportedly obtain groups of 2 inches at 100 yards. Unlike the Maadi MISR you do not need to buy any magazine followers or floor plates for the SAR. The rifle can take ANY type of magazine legally including drums, thus you don't have to worry if you are legal. We are currently looking for personal reviews and experiences with this rifle. Should you have any pictures or personal experience with this rifle please mail them in. webmaster@ak-47.net. Overall Rating: ![]() My MAADI ![]() |

I am keeping the SAR1 and will leave it in the box, cosmo and all. Didn't look forward to cleaning it anyway................
Will most likely keep the maadi for now. Shooting it today, then a good clean and away she goes in the safe. Thanks to everyone for all the input!!! |
