Do it yourself. I have "rehabed" quite a few ban era AKs and I especially love MAADIs.
People under estimate these rifles. I would rather have one of these and upgrade it back to glory than a WASR or whatever people are buying now. It's very easy to do and in the process you will develop some gunsmithing skills. |

Do it all yourself. You'll have a much better appreciation for it.
Apex has the Egyptian wood stocks and handguards. Kvar makes nice US made glossy black or brown pistol grips. Usually the muzzle will need to be threaded to 1/2 28 and that can be done for around $50 in parts (cnc warrior has the parts and tools). Tapco piston and FCG. Good luck! |

Gary with Coles dist is the one you would want to see about a stock, or a whole stock set for that matter as they should run about $70 for the 4pc set. He is on GB or you can google Coles distributing for phone number and tell em what you want. 44 |

I got screwed too, the lower handguard and the stock were butchered by those "gunsmiths" in Egypt. Non-returnable because they were sold "used as-is" Just last year MAADI stocks were everywhere....now they are hard to come by. The Egyptian and true Romanian stocks are almost identical. If you get one of the Romy stocks that the glue in the laminate isn't too red nobody would know the difference. To properly finish the stock you need to cover it in shellac anyway. |

Good luck with what? I wouldn't give bunk info to anyone. Since the Egyptian kits were first imported I picked up 8-10 kits from Gary, 5 of which were Crutch folder kits. Most of which were not even listed on his site or on GB. I saw an add recently (within the last 2-3 months) for Egyptian mags on GB that Gary was and still is selling. I shot him a email via GB to enquire on whether or not he had any 4PC Maadi sets. He had a few so I picked up a couple. Hand picked ones too which I am very happy with. All my experiences with Gary have been A-OK, and through it all his prices have not changed. These sets he had are military take offs of course and not on the same level as what Parsi on GB has been selling for years. All Pars sets are NOS, unmounted sets. Even Pars is down to his last handful of sets, and his price is $200 shipped. Again, I am not trying to pass along bunk info, just shooting the member an alternative source to check out... 44 |

I wasn't being a jerk when I responded to you. I was more referring to me just having to buy one and spend extra. It's good to see they are out there. Coles has MAADI kits? Hmmmmmm....I might be interested in a crutch folder. I already have the rifles, but I feel the need for that nasty looking folder. haha |

The last time I spoke with Gary he was out of Crutch kits. Still worth a shot to email him though as he has always been a good guy to deal with. I have seen a few crutch kits come up for sale either on the boards or on GB, but they have all topped $600 if memory serves. Good luck w/your search... 44 |

Thanks - fun little project. Didn't have an AK and saw a freaky looking post-89 Maadi in a local gun shop for $450. Did a little research and found out that the ACC/Intrac was one of the more desirable ones. Got it and thought "now what". Some one here directed me to the Egyptian parts kits at Atlantic and went from there. Swapped the following out from the Egyptian parts kit: - top cover - butt stock - pistol grip - upper/lower forearm - recoil spring assembly - bolt/piston assembly - cleaning rod - slant brake And then went back and made it compliant: - trigger group (3) - gas piston (1) - magazine follower (1) - slant brake (1) Sling is Russian. |
