Hey guys these might be stupid questions but I'm pretty new to the AK platform and recently bought a Saiga with installed Zhukov furniture. Stock, handguard. Can I buy a 5.5mm russian triangle folding stock and install it easily without making modifications? And I assume I would be able to install original wooden stocks/handguards also right? From what I've read you don't have to cut anything to install a zhukov handguard on a saiga but just wanted to double check, thanks!

No, the 5.5mm folder requires extensive modification to the rear trunnion, as well as modification to the front trunnion.

It's a lot of work and requires specialized knowledge. Not impossible to learn but it's nothing like doing a pistol grip conversion or pressing off the front end components for example


Fixed stock furniture like old school laminate or plum will fit the fixed stock trunnion of the Saiga though, so you can retrofit furniture easily.

What's the cost from a reputable AK-smith to add the correct 5.5 folder to a Saiga ?  The stock is about $250 from the Web and Legion.... Who would you recommend to do
the conversion...???
