I've run quite a bit of Rio 2 3/4" through my Vepr 12s without issue.

I wouldn't try low recoil stuff in a VEPR-12. It's a reliable shotgun, but I think that would be pushing the envelope and you might end up wasting money on ammo.
Things that cause my VEPR-12 to malfunction: -Loading anything over a 5-round magazine to full capacity (I always leave one off the top of 8 and 10 round mags) -Occasional failure to eject with Federal 7.5 shot (hence my apprehension towards low recoil buck) -Limp wristing while firing from the hip -Shooting bone dry without ANY lube |

Is Spartan the cheap stuff from Walmart? If so when you shoot it at night it looks like confetti is coming out of the end.

i've heard those don't fit the md20 drum if thats what you are using.
