Im actually doing my own conversion right now on a saiga, 20 inch barrel 762x39... Just happened to be walking through the gun store and had the disposal cash so I bought the rifle already converted. I looked the conversion over and it looked like a decent job. Bullet guide was even welded rather than just a screw like the kits from dinzag. They did a nice job with the mag catch and everything else looked good. My issues is idk if century did something to throw off the bolt carrier or it came from the factory like that from Russia. My other two saigas dont have the issue. Havent gone to the range but im sure it will run smooth, just one of those anal things that bothers me that the bolt carrier is rubbing and the finish is already gone without firing a round.

Only ding against my Saiga 132 is a canted rear sight block. I'm in the middle of converting it right now so the front sight is cut off and I will be able adjust the new one once I install it.

I canted my rear sight just like the post above. I was removing the barrel pin when it happened. Just set your reciever on a block of wood and smack the sight block with a hammer, it will straighten right up. Then pin the rear sight. The front sight need pinned with at least one pin also. I feel the saiga rifles are not any better than a century ak. Just because its russian dont make it a better ak! I would rather have a milspec ak than the sporter converted.

Whacking it with a mallet seemed help a bit. Looks like the rear sight leaf is canted a bit as well. I can hold the leaf down and it seems level but as soon as I let go it returns to its canted state. Another phone pic ![]() |

I don't know what they are doing to make this so. |

This is pretty true, in my opinion, as well. Saiga's are certainly not anything special - they're made in Russian but a lot of times they're just very slightly above the quality of something that Century would put out. The Saiga's are just cleaned up a bit better before export and sale. |

So Arsenal is not imune to these kinds of things. |

About the only thing I could think of to do would be to get a small file and slowly file one of the rear site "lugs" until it sits straight in the RSB. That is where I would start anyway. ETA: If all else fails try to mod the RSB itself, but that would be a last resort. Just an FYI, I had bought the parts to convert 5 rifles awhile back and only did 3. All 5 rear sites would sit canted in the RSBs of all 3 Saigas. I was using Bulgarian parts, but do not think that was the issue. |

Well if you are getting good zeros out of those rifles with canted rear sights I am going to hold off any any permanent modifications. Still waiting on the 74 FSB kit from Dinzag (no ETA) so it will probably be awhile before I'm able to get to the range and zero mine. Did you change out your FSB and if so did you keep it straight or cant it to match the rear sight? I'm not going to pin the FSB until after I hit the range but knowing how you set your conversions up would give me some more info to work with. Thanks. |

I did a complete conversion on all of mine, to include riveting new trigger guards, hg retainer, gas blocks, and front site housings. I have the squaring blocks and I would align everything to those to ensure everything was straight. I suppose you cant the FSB, but I didn't see a need. I would probably buy an RPK type rear site before modifying the RSB to be honest.
