I admit I don't know that much about Vepr, so any help s appreciated. Can a Vepr (unmodified that is) take 5.56, and can it take Saiga Mags in .223 (such as Pro Mags/SGM),as well as other .223 AK mags (ie Arsenal) ?

They work perfectly with my rifle as it has a bullet ramp installed by RobArms (I assume) and are inexpensive at $15 each.
