THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT
A 2001 I bought back in the day for cheap. Very heavy, but also very bad ass and tough as nails. I lowered the angle of the Ace folding stock so the bolt clears it when folded, it's pretty nice to shoot when folded very compact.

This setup with an empty mag is 9.0lbs 14.0oz
Decided to go with the Ultimak top rail and micro dot. I have a Russian PK-AS which is probably the nicest Russian sight I have used, but it's about a pound heavier and very high/ awkward cheek weld. Plus can't co-witness the regular sights.

Good looking set-up. Add a light and you're all set.
A 9mm might expand to .45, but a .45 will never shrink to 9mm.
Good judgement comes from experience, and a lot of that comes from bad judgement.

Yeah I like mine (bought when it was cheap and regret not getting a 5.45 also), it's all stock as you can see and heavy as a mofo

I'd like to at least do the ACE stock conversion and shorten the LOP

Should have added " Nice looking setup "

I'd like to know: Is the ACE Buttpad soft ? Does it do a good job af absorbing recoil or is it hard ?

The ace pad is rubbery and soft, they also have a thicker one. The VEPR is so heavy the recoil is very light. I also use a cut down recoil buffer insert.

It's the old VEPR-style mount. Before UltiMAK shipped the lower rail farm, they sold milled fore ends from Robinson that let you keep the original look while mounting the gas tube mount.

I don't think they've manufactured them for many years.

Very nice. Can you talk about the under fore grip? I guess its an Ultimak but would like to be sure. Also, I understand the Ace Vepr stock requires cutting the tang. How strong is the stock attachment with the tang cut?

You can see the "UltiMAK ACR2" engraving in one of the pictures. look at the front of the mount:

Yes both rails are Ultimak. The top rail was purchased a couple weeks ago and the lower rail about a year ago both shipped from Ultimak. I added the 2 front bolts on the lower rail. Ulimak shipped the lower rail with top over brackets for other types of AKs. I took one of the top over brackets and cut a curve out to fit under the gas tube then used the factory threads in the lower rail that were already there. This makes the lower rail rock solid, top rail is also very solid.

The Ace stock block is rock solid, but yes you do have to cut the tang which affects the orignal value of the gun. I could not stand the factory VEPR stock so went ahead with it. The only thing I did different was mount the stock folding to the right side and angle the Ace stock base so the bolt can clear the folded stock and fire when closed.

Truely awesome rifle man. A Krebs enchanced safety lever would go great on it.
