Cool pics, although I'm surprsied at the lack of trigger finger discipline in a few shots. Granted we don't know what is going on (in the middle of an engagement) but from a few of the "resting" picks it is clear the booger hooks are inside the trigger guards. Other guys seem to be pretty good about it.

Look at the muzzle device on the guy on the right, almost looks like a Jerry Miculek or PRI muzzle brake.

I wonder what kind of pistols they are carrying ? ? ? ?

They look exactly like Ultimaks. They probably are. This is hilarious. They invented the AK platform, but they're using our US mods with the Ultimaks and the Eotechs.

In recent years the Russians have been utilizing holographic sights for their small arms. You'll find Eotechs on AK-74Ms as well as light machine guns.

The MVD (interior troops) seem to have really embraced western mods and optics for their AKs.

The images above of the special forces is actually a competition in Russia where special forces from all over Russia compete - kind of like a Special Forces Competition Day sort of thing - they're from 2009 I beleive.

Because of the abundance of Makarov pistols in Russia, a lot of troops and police still carry the Makarov. However, small numbers of personnel have been issued with more modern designs - the two below are examples:

Does the Russian military have a standardized rifle? So far I've seen AK-100's, AK-74's and AK-47 series rifles. Not that the U.S. Military is any better, but do they?

As far as I know, AK-74M is the standard issue now. AK-105 was also officially selected to replace AK-74U. However, it seems that the Russian government has recently selected AK-200 as a replacement rifle for AK-74M. From what I remember reading, they plan to slowly phase in AK-200 starting next year.

AK-74M = present day standard issue service rifle of Armed Forces of the Russian Federation
