I just bought my first AK and new to the aftermarket parts since I only have ARs and an SKS. https://www.atlanticfirearms.com/component/virtuemart/shipping-rifles/ak-47-rifle-wasr-10-7-62x39mm-demo-detail.html?Itemid=0  The one I purchased was a demo version. The stock is damaged from use and it has a low round count. I chose this since it was about 60 bucks cheaper than a new one. The damaged stock doesn't matter as I want to replace it with something darker anyway. Do you have any suggestions on a dark wood stock or decent polymer stock and hand guard set that doesn't break the bank as I wont be using this rifle on a regular basis. Do most stocks fit most AKs as I saw some that say fits Romanian AK only, etc? I did some research but don't want to spend 200 bucks and want to ensure it would fit. Also, any suggestions on a basic rail mount for a red dot? Thanks

Really it's personal preference, I like the Magpul furniture and the ultimak rail for a co-witness red dot.

WASRs are a standard AKM pattern so most stock sets for stamped AKs should fit. Every country has their own idea AK spec so some stocks many require fitting. If you can live with the damage to the stock there are many methods of refinishing an AK stock and are worth looking at. If you want a new stock set something like this set from K-Var is a good option and will be a little lighter than a wood set. If your willing and have the skill to clean up some surplus furniture something like this Balkan Battlefield would be cool. If you go that route the stock sets are missing some hardware but you should be able to scavenge your current stock set to make it complete.

As for rails RS Regulate is my go to. Other rails include UltiMak, K-Var(this one looks a bit high), and Midwest Industries. I haven't personally used these other rails but they get good reviews for the most part.

Welcome to the dark side

I should also say when changing around furniture consider 922r compliance. This is a muddy subject and I don't have the time to attempt an explanation, look around there is plenty of info out there on the subject.

The wood bits are foreign the pistol grip is US. You should be OK depending on what you choose to do.

Thanks for the info. I am aware of the 922r compliance crap. I went through all that when I was debating changing stocks on my sks. I will take a look at K Var and possibly Magpul. Those Balkan Battlefield ones seem cool as as they are from an actual conflict. Il'' take a look at RS Regulate. Thanks

I just found this https://www.k-var.com/shop/AKPSW.html  Would this fit the Wasr. It says for stamped receivers which I assume mine is.

Yes, yours is stamped, and that set should fit just fine.

I put a timbersmith grey laminate wood stock on my WASR and I am really pleased with it.  For $130 it makes the rifle look a little less "back alley-made."  It is significantly heavier, though and the rubber butt pad does snag clothing.

I put a Magpul Zhukov-S on my new WASR and its great. An easy install and gives me a folder that I can still use the side rail for a red dot vs. an Arsenal (which I also have).

I took the WASR to the range today and was very pleased with the accuracy and trigger. Very smooth bolt too.  Great value for the price.
