THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT I then mounted the 4x PSOP scope and went to work trying to boresight it. A problem quickly became apparent. When I would attempt to align the reticle with the target as viewed through the bore (just as the tutorial on dragunov.net says to do), I ran out of adjustment on the scope's turret. I had it cranked all the way down and to the left and was still not even on paper. In short, the rifle's POI was out of the scope's spectrum of reticle adjustment. I don't think I have a bum scope or rifle, but I'm not sure. Is there a way to perhaps re-index this scope's reticle so I can the adjustments I need to zero and use my rifle? Or am I just screwed? Thanks in advance for any help. |

Did you loosen the two screws atop the turrets at all? It's possible your rail isn't on straight. If you can, check it.

Have not loosened the screws atop the turrets yet as I thought those were only for indexing after you had found your zero....

Is it possible you have a 7.62x39 scope?
On the first page of this forum is a pretty good amount of info and the PSO scope Manual is there. |

Generally they are, buf if your adjustment is that far off go ahead and see if you can get it close. What sucks about that though is that the adjustments move the reticle inside your sight picture. If it's way off to the side and/or top or bottom it's going to be funky. |

I had nearly the same problem with my 4x rommy scope when I first laser bore sighted it. After figuring out the scope rail was installed off angle, I decided to shim the scope base and file where necessary to achieve close to center reticle position with the laser bore sight. THis took many tries to achieve, but it eventually panned out. The reticle is now nearly dead center in the scope sighting circle with plenty of adjustment to fix any slight bore sighting errors. For example, today I took my PSL out to finish the 100 yard sight in. It took three shot to determine where the rifle was shooting with the scope( all within 2 inches of each other at 100 yds, with a big piece of paper, just to be sure). I then was able to loosen the adjustment turrets and visually track one round at a time as I brought the scope into alignment with where the rifle was shooting(probably 4 or 5 marks for elevation and only 2 or 3 for windage). When completed, with scope set at 1 for elevation, my rounds were hitting at exactly the point of the top of the uppermost chevron, first shot , every shot in a three round string. Notably, the second round was nearly always an inch to the left( father was spotting and calling), and the third was always 2 to three inches above the first two. Time between shots was about 2 to 3 seconds apart on all of the 3 rounds strings, and time between the strings was at least a full 30 seconds, with the barrel never getting above warm(to the touch). Also notably, the Czech silver tip loves my rifle, with the first 2 of 3 rounds always going into 1 to 1.25 inch clusters, and the 3rd opening it up into a 3 inch group, and russian mids 70s surp was going into 1.5 to 2 inch clusters on the first 2 rounds and third opening it up to around 4 inches. BTW, all rounds were weighed and grouped by total cartridge weight. Meaning that all rounds that weighed 346.5 grains were grouped with other rounds around that same weight(within .2 or .3 grains). Yes , I individually weighed each round out of a full case, but the result was, that the rounds were very consistant with each other and allowed the walk of shots to center of target very precisely.

I'm wondering...is there such a thing as a side rail adapter that you can put in between the scope rail and the scope base that can be adjusted to compensate for a badly mounted scope rail? |
