THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT I have noticed that the gas tube is always about a quarter turn loose when I take the gun apart to clean it. The first half turn of the tube is really loose and easy and then it gets hard to turn. I always hand tighten it but notice that it is always a quarter turn loose when I take it apart. So I asume that it is turning slighlty and wiggling back and forth while I shoot it. I know that AK's have some pretty loose tolerances but I just wanted to make sure this was OK as it seems unsafe to me. Again, it gets hard to turn once you get about a half turn so it has never completely loosened or unscrewed. Otherwise, I love my SAR-1. It is my favorite gun despite what anyone says about AK's. It should be either pinned or welded. A pinned gas piston will move a little, but not rotate. It sounds like you have a Century rifle with a welded gas piston, and the weld has cracked. |

Gas tube should wiggle a bit that is normal/NP. However, bostedAK is correct, the gas piston should not back out and needs to be addressed. |
