I kind of like the look of those butthole stocks but they are just unfomfortable as hell to shoot.  I  guess my hands aren't quite big enough. I'm soon to change mine in the next few days when my new stock set gets here.  Then I'll some pics.

Just a little somthing I threw togather.... hanks The specs on this mAK-90 'tactical' are PKAS-v on Mtk01c bracket (self installed, very easy mod) TDI Lhv-47 forward grip w/rails, all supplied by Tantal, looks even better with Streamlight ultrastinger installed on lower interface....
Tac sling from www.Tacticaltailor.com,         Blackjack buffer installed.
Couldnt be happier with the PKAS-v scope. It is superb. Great for deer hunting or just plinking. Anybody know if these optics (Pkas/ Kobra) are N-V compatable?

Looks like a standard MAK90, with Choate handguards, KVAR buttstock, Tapco FNFAL style grip, pin-on muzzlebrake, G2 FCG and a Polish mag.  I'll have to agree, damn nice lookin' MAK!!

Well, since I didnt see one like it, he he.....Heres one of mine, I also have a milled legend, and a couple of Maks, but Im not digging that deep into the safe.

Whats neat about this, is that it came with brown plastic "jungle" furniture, I bought it very early into the ban, long before US made plastic grips and forearms were available, not to mention euro, com block stuff, so I have always assumed it was imported this way.  If anybody has any other info, or has seen another like it, I would be appreciate the input, because if it is proven incorrect, I would probably have to try to reobtain the correct chinee furniture.

One other note about the plastic furniture, which makes me think its correct, the pistol grip, unlike the new USA made ones does not have a washer embedded in the grip for the screw head to bear down on, it has an seperate blued washer, with finish that matches the screw head that all sits in an oversized ledge cast down into the grip.

Oh, I did put a chinee' slant brake on it, thats the barrel nut cable tied to the front sight with a yellow tie, since its a SAFE QUEEN, Im not worried about it rattling around and scratching the finish.

The pistol grip is way different than the one is your illustration and the color match is very good to the upper handguard thats on the gun, are those parts yours?  I'd like to see the bottom of the pistol grip, to see what the screw and washer look like.

Also, are there any manufacturers codes on the front grips, Im going to pull mine and look.

This is my Norinco MAK-91 with milled receiver stamped 386 and factory 19'' barrel.  The rifle was sold to me with the FSE fcg, Ace Ltd. buttstock, claro walnut presentation grade pistol grip and fore-end already installed and I added the sidescope mount and cone type flash hider.  The rifle was then KG gunkoted in OD green over dark grey park.

The next MAK-90 is a NIB Norinco milled 16'' carbine that I unfortunately no longer have in my posession.

Well, I don't have a camera or photos, but I have a rifle very much like SelectFire's Polytech "Double Folder," although I bet mine is a little more beat up. Welcome to Oxyman, and that is a great AK to have. I just thought I'd chime in. Sorry no photos though

As promised earlier in this thread here are my PolyTech AKS-762.

Rare '89 model AKS-762 wood stock with long metal side fold stock and checkered grip.
It's been said that only about 200-400 of this model had been imported because it was released just before the '89 import ban.
Installed original factory parts are ventilated upper handguard and AK-74 style muzzle brake.

'89 Model AKS-762 wood stock with folding spike bayonet.

ETA: My third and last (for now) '89 PolyTech AKS-762 folder with red plastic stock

These rifles have very smooth 3.5 to 4 lb. trigger pull because they were dealer samples and was selected for their nice triggers.

Thanks oxyman.

My third Polytech AK which I didn't post a picture is just like yours, a sidefold with reddish plastic stock.

I bought my first AK, with the spike bayonet in late '88 and I got two more in late '89.

I take mine out every once and awhile and never had a FTF of any kind.

They are getting rare specially my sidefold with the wood stock so I take good care of them by using only good brass shell ammo and proper maintenance.

My opinion is I agree with you that this brand is probably the best Chinese AKs because they are Chinese mil-spec which means they are chrome plated, heat treated and materials are up to their high standards.

Their commercial brands don't have these mil-spec features.

The short stocks are not really a problem if you're wearing winter jackets or armor vest.

I'm not sure if I agree or not, after all I only had to go through 3 (!) Norinco 91s to find one that held zero on the bipod at 100 yards after 3 drums of ammo bumpfired!
Could the others have had a heat treatment problem (I've often wondered)?
Never saw a Polytech that wasn't a beautiful rifle.

I could bump fire my PolyTech AKs all day long and won't loose zero, they factory test their process in full auto for the Chinese military.

Heat treat problem maybe, some brands don't even heat treat at all.

I would recommend the PolyTech to anyone, try it you'll like it.

Cajunboy,

Is that a Norinco 56s-1?  If so, what are the first 3 ser # digits.  Mines starts with 1MSxxxxxx.

What does "1MS" stand for?

Also, your Sling is wider.  Very nice!

Functional,

+1

I know TAPCO seems to be a curse word around here, but if it wasn't for those TAPCO SAW grips, I wouldn't enjoy shooting  my AKs nearly as much.
