5.56x45 marked on side

Made in China by Norinco

Says 84s on the trunion that is XXX out with AKS 223 lightly stamped on the other side on the receiver

Says CSI LA CA then
CSI ONT CA

Nonmatching bolt that headspaces well

5.45x39 mag

The confusing part is why did the XXX out the 84s and restamp it AKS 223?

89 import ban - had to remark and change some features to get them in, iirc.

Couldn't be.  Still got all the ban features and they marked them BWK 92

I had a bwk 92 5.56 and sold it but it had no front bayonet lug.

cant tell for sure but maybe someone modified it and to me the stock doesn't look correct.

The only receiver markings are crude and obviously stamped by CSI.  They aren't even straight

Barrel has the 14 mm left hand threads.

maybe someone took parts and put this all together.

the muzzle end of the gun really looks like its not correct either.

They could have been reconfigured with US parts once in the US, or illegally once (or even before) the AW ban expired.  If this is a one-owner gun and you've had it the whole time, then I guess it was for some other reason.  I've had or handled both original 84s models and nhm-90 marked variants, but never an 84s remarked as "aks 223"

As I recall it, CSI relocated from LA to Ontario after the 94 AW ban, but this is 20-year old anecdotal knowledge, at this point.  If I'm wrong or fuzzy, hopefully someone else will chime in shortly.

This one looks early there is no fancy Norinco logo or anything.  Just crooked stamping.  SN is clearly in the pre-89 zone

Anyone else have any input?

Bolt does not match because they are prone to breaking a common problem . I bought a box of .223 AK bolts at the estate of the gunsmith that worked for Kengs and easily sold them all   I am thinking the spiker was added . I am not sure if I have ever seen a .223 spiker. . I have seen people use 5,45 mags for .223 and century made some slight mods to 5.45 mags and sold them as .223 mags .

I'm going with someone added parts to it.

I agree that it is a parts gun.  There was a pre-ban 5.56mm spiker made (I've had one) but it was not Norinco and had no Norinco parts on it - it was a Polytech.  Earl
