Had a lot to do with my I procrastinated on getting one. Assume quality would be in the WASR range....which I do not/did not think very highly off. Boy was I wrong.

Yes, CFS still has them in stock.

I got my gas piston from AK-builder today. Once I have it on the gun I am up to five US parts. All I will need to do is buy a M.I. Universal handguard and I am good to use all my surplus steel mags.

Had my gas piston put on the gun today. It cost me a little over $20 from akbuilder.com and $20 to have it put on the gun at a local machine shop. Speed steel bits wouIdn't scratch the hardened stainless steel so I had to pick up a cobalt bit and even that was slow going. I ordered a M.I. Universal Handguard and a US PALM AK Battle Grip from onesourcetactical.com yesterday. Anybody have expierence dealing with this website? Anyway I hope to have them next week. I can't wait to see how this gun is gonna look and handle.

Yes. I put that cheap "MOS11C Collection" watermark in all of my pics.

They are red bakelites. I also modded a surplus gas tube to install a standard
plastic upper handguard. I figure that the grips and the handguard would set
it apart from the other AMDs while keeping the AMD look.
And it looks pretty kool too.

You only need five parts because the brake is permanently attached.

After recently picking up my first one a few weeks ago....Well lets just say it's twin is now on the way.
Was not expecting much on these but after getting one it is a bonafide steal for a close to mid range weapon.
Buds now has them for $419.00––––Wanted to get another before prices climb and availability of these goes away.

Not a big AK fan, but if I ever get another it will either be an AMD65 or a sbr Draco.

Are the muzzles threaded on these AMDs under the brake/barrel extension? I've been interested in an SBR AK. Really thinking about picking one of these up for that purpose.

You have two sections that are threaded. The point directly in front of the front sight where the traditional flash suppressor went. A two inch extension is screwed on. Then the break is screwed on and attached to that with a weld bringing it to a total of a legal 16 in.

The last couple AMD's that were received around here had the 1 piece, 4" muzzle brake on them.

Thanks guys. Either way it's a better option than having to install a new rear trunnion on the inferior and now scarce Draco.

I'm interested in one of these but the short barrel concerns me.

Without knowing what I was doing, I bought my first AR that had an 11.5 inch barrel with a 5.5 inch flash hider. That setup resulted in decreased muzzle velocity without the advantages of a short barrel because of the flash hider. Do these rifles not suffer from the same issue?

Muzzle velocity is going to be less in any rifle with a shorter barrel, the AMD 65 is not a long range shooter so the lost velocity shouldn't matter.

Based off chrono tests I've read on here between a Draco and wasr, it's only a couple hundred fps that's lost.
