I have not shot it yet, but hope to do so soon...

Very happy with it

SBR on mines with the Ultimak and Aimpoint R-1. Old pic with the Fastfire II

Taken several classes and done other events.

Fine with the concept and setup.

Accurate to 300 yards with proper ammunition selection.

Have no issues with the cheek weld and other issues that others complain about.

SBR was the best thing I have ever done on it, just so much freedom and selection that I can with it.

I finished a couple of big jobs and got a nice paycheck last week so I finally pulled the trigger and placed an order with Centerfire yesterday. The AMD-65 should be at my FFL dealer either saturday or early next week. Thanks for all the help guys.

Nice finish
Tight build
Fun to shoot
Light
IMO, a winner out of the box

The only thing that I've changed was to put a standard black upper plastic handguard.

Picked up my AMD-65 from the FFL today. So far so good. No canted sights, doesn't have too much magazine wobble, and the trigger is amazingly smooth. The thing I am most impressed with is how light this thing is. My only complaint is the button that unlocks the stock is really stiff. Its almost impossible to press in. Will this go away overtime or is their something I can do?

Thanks again guys.

I like em so much I got multiples. They are cheaper than WASRs nowadays, but built much better.

It gets a little easier over time...or my thumb just got stronger.
And you so very, very, very very, very very, fucked. Not just a little fucked, but a big old 55 gallon drum of concentrated, industrial strength, monitored by EPA and has to have a HAZMAT team on standby fucked.

I have been opening and closing it repeatedly and it has allready started to loosen up a bit.

I was going to order a Ultimak rail today. Sadly there is not enough room between the sight block and gas block to fit a Ultimak rail. The Ultimak rail is 5 3/4" and my gas tube is only 5 11/16". So my only other optic mounting options are the M.I. Quadrail and TWS Dogleg.

I just realized that this gun is not 922r compliant without a US made mag in it. Besides the 20rd. Tapco that came with the gun all I have is mil-surp steel mags. I allready changed the pistol grip out with a Hogue but I am still in the red w/o a US made mag. Looks like I am gonna have to order a M.I. Quadrail.

if you changed out the grip to hogue - can you not replace the plates and followers of teh steel mags for compliance parts?
if i remember correctly - the ultimak either needs to be modified, or they make an AMD specific rail.....i could swear i saw on for sale recently

Ultimak does make a AMD-65 specific rail but it is 5 3/4" and my gas tube is only 5 11/16". So even the AMD specific rail would have to be modified to fit my rifle. I talked to my brother(mechanic and amatuer fabricator) and he told me that the hard anodized aluminum Ultimak rail could be easily cut down with a hacksaw if no other tools were available. So I will be putting in a order for a Ultimak rail soon.

I am also thinking about replacing the lower handguard/vertical grip and the pistol grip with some wood from Ironwood Designs. Hopefully this set up will make the rifle 922r compliant without a US mag. I am also seriously considering making this a SBR.

Can someone tell me what parts on the TGI AMD-65 are US made. I know the trigger group is US made and I assumed the gas piston and flash suppressor were as well. Now I am unsure. Thanks in advance for the help.

Not sure, I would guess the muzzle brake and piston are foreign. That gives them the max (10) foreign parts if you use the Tapco mag they supply. If they are going to give you a US mag, there's no point in spending the extra expense to bring the parts count to 8 foreign, since you still can't use foreign mags.

BTW, does everyone's stock lock when folded? I've had 4 AMD 65s (1 traded away, 3 squirreled away to the collection) and 1 did not lock folded, while 3 do lock.

Just got back from shooting the AMD-65 for the first time. I am so impressed with this rifle. It puts my Yugo to shame and I dare say it puts my friends Arsenal to shame. Not that its any better than the Arsenal but at less than half the cost its a much better rifle for the money.

I didn't even need to sight it in. I was shooting 20oz. pepsi bottles at 30 yds with ease. Follow up shots were quick. It was almost like the muzzle would magically drop right back into the exact place it was before the preceding shot.

Rapid fire was really fun and very controlable. My brother thought it was full auto when he first saw me shotting it. The Tapco G2 is truely amazing.

I shot 120 rds. of Wolf Military classic 124 gr. FMJ, 20 rds. of Wolf Military Classic 124 gr. HP and 30 rds. of Yugo surplus. I had one failure to feed with the Wolf HP but I contribute that to the particular magazine I was using at the time. It wasn't seating properly.

If it weren't for the 922r compliance issues I am having this would be the perfect AK.
