I am new to AKs so this may be a no biggie, but I modified my SLR107 folding stock so I could run a decent sling configuration.  Coming from the AR world, I was surprised to find out I couldn't buy an aftermarket stock with a QD point on the rear for my Arsenal folder.  I gained the QD point I needed just ahead of the receiver when I added the Midwest Industries keymod hand guard.  A $19 Magpul MSA-QD from midwayusa and three drilled holes later, I had the QD point I needed on the rear of the stock.  It sets low enough that the folding stock can still latch in to the receiver as well.

Pretty neat mod!  And still folds and locks with no problem.

I'm going to have to save that to my photo collection.

Platoon-
Did you have to drill 3 holes total?
Two for the screws and one larger one in the middle, into the stock for the sling to clip into?

I'm trying to add a single point mount similar to that to the lower handguard on my Arsenal.  Putting that on the front end will take up minimal space and work with my Magpul sling.

Just trying to pick the right mount and wondering how far the sling clips into / through the mount. There isn't much room behind the handguard before the heat shield slips in there. I'll have to use some really flush nuts for the screws as it is.

Thanks

If that mount requires the male end of the swivel to stick too far into the handguard and hits my heat shield I might be best using this one instead

Might as well get the standard Magpul handguard and use that sling mount on the bottom. At least you wouldn't have to drill out your existing one.
The Noveske QD mount would also work for the stock.

For now I ordered an Echo93 single point mount that goes between the pistol grip and receiver. That will go on my Arsenal

For my Egyptian Maadi I have a CNC Warrior side folder, and a steel lower handguard I ordered from Circle10 that is like a keymod type of rail.

Annnnnd for my Mak90 I have a Ironwood stock set on the way.

It'll be nice to have all this installed

Sorry forgot to answer this...pulled old sling mounting hardware... Used nice drill bit and a dremal and opened I the plastic and metal to fit a magpul qd cup. Mounted with magpuls bolt and lock washer in cup... Worked like a charm...cost like $20 I think... You can see the mounting bolt and washer I trimmed after I painted it looked almost factory... I did fill the hole with black silicone Rtv and put the qd cup in to help seal as much water put as I could...looks not bad at all I'll take a pick of the finished product for you. I did this with all my folders..
