Hey guys,

I've had an SSR85 for a while now, if memory serves I got it from Atlantic firearms and the bayo lug was professionally removed to allow import.(or so I was told).

Well I'd like to fix that.  Should just be a matter of popping the pins, removing the front sight and gas block and getting a replacement gas block with the lug.

So which block do I need?

Any direction on this would be appreciated.

I know there are some different variations... just wanted to be sure I specified which.

IIRC  some of the ssr85 models use the thicker type 3 ak47 barrel, not the thinner akm barrel.

If my googling is correct its a type 3 gas block due to the sling loop.

None of the links above have that....

I suppose if I'm already taking the front sight and gas block, off, replacing the front HG cap with a sling loop one would be easy enough as well...

You need a Type 1 bayonet. They are for Type 3 milled AKs and fit on the barrel, not bayonet lugs like an AKM

See the little fangs or hooks on the AK47 FSB? Thats where
the actual locking takes place for the type 1 bayonet. The ass
end of the bayonet slides over the rear cleaning rod retainer.
Should be two little grooves as well.

I can see why the Soviets ditched the Type 1 as its a shitty knife,
don't get me wrong its great for poking but a butter knife is sharper.
Think of the SKS bayonet only duller.

BUT, its the correct blade for the classic AK47.

You can get a bayo from k-var that is like a akm bayo, but wil fit a type 3 fsb
it isnt cheap though , more a collector thing
