I've got an SLR 101R (fixed stock Milled AK now being sold as SAM7R), and a SLR 107FR, both in 7.62x39.
7.62x39 mags are cheap and easy to find compared to 5.45 mags. 7.62x39 ammo is also easier to find compared to 5.45 ammo....not that 5.45 ammo is too terribly tough to find, but you get the idea. |

I agree on the mag and ammo availability. I can walk into Walmart and buy 7.62, but the only way I can buy 5.45 is via the Internet. Sam7 is also significantly more expensive. However, I do like the right side folding stock and smooth trigger on the Sam7. Thanks for your input.

I agree that 7.62 ammo is easier to find and mags are cheaper but I prefer the 5.45 myself. I love my SLR104 and would never trade it. It is an amazing shooter, just gotta stock up on surplus ammo and drop a little cash for mags. I vote for the 104 but if I was going to go with 7.62 I would go SLR107.

Love my 104 and ammo off the shelf can be bought locally in my neck of the woods. Definitely wouldn't let the ammo ban effect my choice, as Russian surplus is still cheaper and available.
