I am a new member and I currently have 3 Arsenal AK types (1 rifle, 2 pistols) and I love shooting them. I prefer the Milled Sam5 but the SLR-106u pistol is a lot of fun at the range. So far the members here have been very helpful and I have also signed up for other AK forums under the same username...

UPDATE: I have started my AR-M9 clone project. I had a local gunsmith swap out the front sight for a threaded bulgarian AK-74 style with bayonet lug. I picked up a Circle 10 bayonet and CNC Warrior US made "Bulgarian Birdcage" flash hider. I also purchased the AR-M9 Bulgarian Military style furniture from K-Var.

UPDATE: AR-M9 clone project complete. Pictures below...

UPDATE: Added pic of Sam7k with 40 round (10) mag.

UPDATE: Added pics of collection...

UPDATE: SLR-106u and Sam7k front end conversions complete...

Very nice.  I own both the slr pistol (8.5in bbl) and fr model of the rifle.  They are good rifles and function well (I am sbr'ing the pistol).  How do you like the bulgarian stock set on the sam5 compared to the one that came on it?

I really like the Bulgarian stock set, I think the rubber padding will work well in helping absorb what little amount of recoil the Sam-5 has. I should have it back tommorow and I will update the thread when I have more pics.

Quick question. On your SLR-106u pistol is the barrel threaded or the FSB/GB? I am trying to source a Bulgy FSB/GB combo so I can use the Russian AK74u flash hider/booster that I picked up (after I cut and crown the barrel of course)

The front sight base is threaded as is standard of the '74/aksu style rifles.  The barrel is too thin for the 24.5x1.5mm threads of the booster.    Good luck with your projects!

That is what I thought. Intoweapons on Youtube said his threads were 14mm. I was sure they were 24mm. On the K-Var website the compensator that comes with the new pistols is listed as having 24mm threads...

Nice M1 rifle. Had one done up close to yours. I didn't care for the stock the Bulgarians use. Eventually went with the intermediate length stock with trap door for the cleaning kit.

I  have a SA M5S, guess I found someone who thinks they shoot great also. I shoot it more than any AK or AR I own.

Everyone who has a Sam-5 shares the opinion that they are crazy accurate.

Updated thread with pics of Sam7k and Sam5 with minor changes. I got the AK-Builder 4 piece booster/flash hider for the Sam7k but I need to swap the FSB/GB first. I added the ultimak with red dot to the Sam7k and it seems like a pretty good set up, I will know for sure after the next range session...

looking good! waffle mag looks good in the sam7k.

Where did you get the 45rnd vepr 5.56 mags?

And how much did you pay if you don't mind?

Thanks!

Edit: nevermind, I found a post on another forum that royal tiger imports is selling them for $99. and saw your pistol there too!

How are the functioning for you so far?

Thanks for the reply. I have not had a chance to use the 45 round RPK mags but I suspect they will work great in my .223 Vepr without modification. I might need to clean up the built in bullet guide in the front of the mag because it tends to get caught on the rounds as they come out. The other post you are referring to has all the latest info available about these mags.

Really cool! Looks good.  Are you wanting to sbr the sam7k?  If so, what are your ideas going about doing it?

I am going to sbr my slr106 pistol but unsure about how to do the rear conversion since the trunnion is already installed.  I imagine it is going to be a challenge

No plans to SBR the Sam7k. As for the SLR-106u pistol conversion, all you do is take off the rear sling swivel plate and install triangle folder. Mill out the holes in the rear of the receiver for the stock latch and the front of the receiver/trunion to accept the folding latch.
