"All gone, they're up to $450 or more if you can find them now."
This. The M-74s were actually a reliable, inexpensive 5.45mm; Century did a good job on these. Who knew. Prob'ly best bet now is to buy a Saiga & convert it. |

I have a century arms marked ak-74 with no side rail. It has the ugly furniture like the century AK-74M's. The bottom of the receiver is marked "Elk River", where the others are marked Nodak Spud. Anybody know the specs on this thing or what it is worth? I owned one of those CAI AK-74M's when they were for sale for like $350 but this rifle seems to be higher quality.

It's the same M74, just a different receiver. Century used receivers from whoever they could get large quantities from. Nodak, Elk River, and I believe some of their own were used for these builds. Value is around $450. |

Their pic shows polymer furniture, mentions plum in the text but also says "wood showing wear". Anyway neither set up is what CAI had built. Six hundred bucks and NO mag? Rip-off. |

The centerfire rifles are Waffen Werks.

I believe these Century AK74s have a non chrome lined barrel? Does that become an issue when running corrosive surplus 5.45? Some of the deals when they were 350$ came with a handful of mag's as well.
Elk River receivers are quality too IMO. Made in MT! |

So glad I got one on the cheap. My wife made me put the timber smith black wood stock on it. I love it, shot a arsenal 74 and the century 74 they seem to be nearly same quality.

You'll get 1/3 the life of a CHF/CL barrel. If you don't care, then a Century Bulgy is fine, but you can't honestly say it's the "same quality". |

Never said it was exact same quality. I just couldn't tell much difference shooting one another side by side. Yes chrome lined is better but for the buck I get more bang with the century. I say just clean the rifle and it should be fine.
