THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT
Not long before Christmas, I was looking for a winter project gun, so I rang up Centerfire Systems and purchased one of these:

Once the holidays were over, I got to work in earnest, completing most of it during the first week of January. The final parts I’d been waiting for arrived yesterday, so now I have this:

This is a Bulgarian SSR-85c2 with a heavy barrel and receiver, outfitted with black Arsenal/KVAR stock and hand guards, a Hogue pistol grip, Bulgarian Circle 10 waffle mag, with an AK74-style muzzle brake, thread adapter, and crush washer, all by CNC Warrior. Internally, I swapped out the factory FCG and shepherd’s hook with a Tapco G2 (double hook) and Tapco retaining plate. I installed a Buffer Tech recoil buffer as well.

Overall, I think it turned out rather well, but there’s still a lot of winter left, so I’ll have to track down another project gun to fill the time.

That about covers it. Thanks for looking.

I'm no expert on the strengths and weaknesses of plastics, but the skeleton stock is at least as sturdy as any other fixed polymer stock I've handled. Aesthetics and ergonomics are the only issues I can fathom. To my eye, for instance, it doesn't look right. Similarly, the grip section is too skinny for my hands (hence my choice of a Hogue grip over a traditional grip), and the LoP is too long for my tastes (I prefer Warsaw length stocks). On the other hand, the top is higher than a standard stock, so it is easier to form a cheek weld. The back is longer, too, allowing one to raise the cheek weld even higher while still getting good purchase in the shoulder.

Hope that helps.

Threading beneath the muzzle nut was standard M14x1 LH. The thread adapter bounces it up to 24mm in order to accept the AK74-style brake.

As for the trunnion, it is basically an uncut underfolder trunnion (just like those in a Draco C), but with a tang attached. I had to cut out a square section from the back plate to insert the standard stock.

hmm, didn't look like a 24mm 74 brake. Have a better pic of the adapter?

It is this one at CNC Warrior: http://www.cncwarrior.com/shop/24086-draco-thread-adapter/

I'm a little annoyed that they are now offering a version without the extension-esque portion. This one was in the mail before the new version was released.

cool. I always used Kreb's in the past b/c they had multiple pin locations on theirs. I guess that extension threw me off a tad. Still looks great

This one has three pin positions, but I needed the crush washer to make sure the brake was properly aligned.

Already sold it. That's what helped fund the brake set up.
