I bought a custom AK 47 from a colleague who wanted to off loaded so I bought from him.  I wanted to add a scope so I purchased NcSTAR top cover scope mount but, it does fit snug and keeps popping off.

So not thinking I purchased the UTG top mount.  Again I don't have a traditional upper  (the bracket on the left side is missing)..

Ok, Who's got the solution?????? "Somebody dial it up"

First of all the AK doesn't have an upper or lower, it only has a receiver.
If your receiver doesn't have a side rail you can bolt or rivet one on from here.

Then use this mount for mounting your scope or red dot sight.

With this mount you can remove the scope to clean & service your rifle without losing zero.

Midwest Industries has a railed gas tube or gas tube cover and so does Ultimak that you can get instead of drilling holes in your AK.

There is a place called Sabrewereks out of Necedah, Wisconsin that has a new way to put a universal optics mount on an AK.
I have seen them at gun shows & I think it is a good idea for those who change their optics to suite the need of their shooting sport.
Check it out here.
