Purchased this Molot Vepr FM-AK47-11 from Atlantic Firearms here is my first impression. vepr sun by gundamzaku999, on Flickr The built on this rifle is solid, no bad rivets and straight sight. The action is the smoothest of my all AK type rifles. The rifle came with one 5rd Arsenal magazine, a cleaning kit, manual/booklet, and a cleaning rod. vepr kit by gundamzaku999, on Flickr The features listed in the manual Heavy RPK chrome line barrel RPK 1.5mm receiver RPK trunnion RPK handguard Warsaw length buttstock Double stage trigger RPK style sight original gas tube original handguard retainer side rail mount 14x1mm muzzle thread The following part are Russian made Receiver Barrel trunnion bolt bolt carrier gas pistol lower handguard Basically all the “important” parts are original factory made. I shot about 300rd today of various ammo( Tula 122gr FMJ, White box mil-spec from SGammo, and WPA 123gr FMJ) using various steel mags. The rifle feed and function flawlessly. I was able to get 2in group at 50yr shooting offhand. vepr group by gundamzaku999, on Flickr I post update once I put more rounds through the rifle. The service from Atlantic Firearms were excellent and shipping was fast. If anybody got any question about the rifle just post here and I will try to answer. |

No NODAK receiver and US barrel like the legion ones?
Nice rifle, a bit overbuilt perhaps, but nice. |

On my next purchase list! Thanks for the review. Just what I wanted to find.

Standard furniture fit? View Quote Got a email from gabeowp asking me about handguard fitness So I tried installing the following handguard on the Molot Vepr AK47-11 Magpul AKM MOE – it don't fit Wood handguard from a WASR10 – it don't fit Polymer handguard from a SLR107 – it don't fit Why? First this part is much too thick compare to a standard AKM like my SLR and WASR vepr tru by gundamzaku999, on Flickr This is my SLR handguard note the measurement is less than 25cm slr hand by gundamzaku999, on Flickr Compare that to the handguard off the Molot which is over 25cm vepr hand by gundamzaku999, on Flickr Also the opener for the handguard is also different. SLR107 on left and Molot on right. It's the same compare to the WASR also So the answer is no. Standard AKM handguard won't fit the Molot AK. hand akm by gundamzaku999, on Flickr |

I preordered one. I am sitting on the fence about do I go wood or leave it be and hope that in time slr rifleworks makes a HG for it.

If I were in the market for a new AK, this would be my top pick. Molot goodness that will last a lifetime (and then some). Wood furniture all around, an optic, flash hider, and a sling. Done. |
|
Beautiful piece of hardware. Overbuilt is better then $hit built. I would be all over this too if I were in the market. Great addition to the meager choices these days. And no bayo lug or cleaning rod solution should not make or break the purchase. Looks like a winner to me.

I recently acquired a custom 5.56 VEPR.. would agree with the overbuilt remark I can definitely tell the weight differences between my SGL-21 and 31 due to the heavier RPK profile.

Hey Atlanrtic, when do you plan on getting more of these rifles? Thanks!

They just look too heavy to me. I used to do heavy ARs too for the same reasons people are stating here (overbuilt, more durable, etc.). But I got tired of lugging the heavy ones around and found myself going for the lighter profiles.
But, hey, big girls need love too. |

20 years ago I would have LMAO at a $1000 AK. These look nice but not $1K nice.

Yeah well i have had 2 emails signed up for the instock alert and was told one day that "i was emailed " when there was nothing in my inbox or spam. Then the other day i did get a email and immediately linked to it and it showed out of stock. So that's when I went to kvar. |

Same rifle as the Legion 01 V 7.62x39mm Vepr, except it has the side folding stock.

This thing makes me want to dip deep into bass and start singing the Volga Boatmen's Song alongside Leonid Kharitonov.
Getting added to the wishlist three times just incase an entry or two get lost. |

View Quote Nicer AK's are usually built that way, my SA-85 is the same way yet properly made AK handguards will all fit with a tiny bit of modding, I get that guys who are used to AR's kinda freak out if an aftermarket part doesn't drop right in, but AK's from model to model are too different to guarantee fit. You really don't have to be a custom gunsmith to spend 5 minutes with a piece of sandpaper. |

Adjusted for almost 25 years later and 1K for a nice AK isn't that out of the question for me... OP, nice rifle! I like a slightly overbuilt pistol/rifle. It's why I like my CZ's and milled receiver Yugo's... YMMV! |

They had stacks of them at the gunshows in Texas about that time for $189.00 bucks, that's what my first one cost. Bought a milled MAK and an NHM-91 from a vendor the same day one time, they were marked 299 each but the guy knocked 100 bucks off because I bought 'em both, 500 bucks......SKS's were usually about 90 bucks, I saw a guy that would sell a 5-pack of them for 249.00 bucks. |

I just bought two NPAPs, 1 fixed stock and 1 folder , and a 6920 so I'm tapped out.
I need to find a way to get one of these Molots |
