How can one determine which Arsenal model he has? There are many variations, correct? is there a reference to markings, etc?

there are main models like the slr-107fr, slr-104fr, 107ur, 104ur etc.  

 






Most of the smaller numbers after the main number can change the stock type, furniture color etc

It should say exactly what it is just under the front trunnion.

I had a 105 that did and I have a 107 that does also.

Is this visible with the firearm assembled or do you need to remove some parts to see? Sorry but I am fairly new to AKs.

It is visible on the receiver without disassembly. If milled receiver then the model should be on the left side of the receiver above where the scope rail sits or would sit.

Pretty much all relevant data is on the left side of the receiver.
