I'm happy to see these don't have that damn slant cut receiver. Looks promising.

As long as all the important parts are Russian made, I might get one. I almost bought a VEPR a few years ago but didn't want to install the bullet guide... hopefully these have that already. Would look good next to my sweet WASR.

|
Would be almost perfect if it had bayonet/accessory lugs.
Sigh |

That's what took the wind out of my sail. I'm dying for an RPK variant and would have even been happy making one of these into a short barreled RPK... but no. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

Make it with an RPK barrel and I'm in, otherwise... meh. That's what took the wind out of my sail. But no. |

Why are people disappointed with this rifle? What were they expecting?

Am I wrong... I thought RPK was different furniture than AKM? Which furniture fits this new Kvar rifle? Also is it me or is the barrel on Kvars version different than the profile on my sporterized vepr?

how much of this is russian made?? all of these "style" keywords bother me. russian barrel and receiver at least?

Its a huge step in the right direction I think. I prefer the thicker receiver but the ban configuration is a bummer though.

But we want RPKs... Speak for yourself. I have one of the older Robinson RPK rifles and prefer the shorter 16in. barrel for 7.62x39. As far as ban features go, I suppose having both lugs and the cleaning rod would be preferential, but I have progressed to the point where I don't care about superficial things. The threaded barrel, double stack mag well, and pistol grip are things I use and this rifle has them. This looks like a worthwhile variant and I will pick one up if politics don't become asinine. |

Picked mine up from the FFL yesterday. It is one solid feeling rifle. Way more balanced than my M72, with the 16" barrel. Nice fit and finish. I don't like the plastic "US" furniture, so I'll be looking for wood replacements soon. I haven't had a chance to get out to the range yet, so I can't comment on how it shoots yet.

Thanks, Mike Standard handguards can work, but I would recommend against it. AKM gas blocks will not work. You need a RPK gas block. |

I would order an RPK stock set from IWD finished in their shellac red if I had one.
The handguards should be pretty close to drop in. http://ironwooddesigns.com/IWDNEWRPK2.html |

I kinda miss it but not enough to pay what people want now, or to drop 2K on a Russian VEPR RPK clone. |

Gorgeous! I want it just for the squareback, screw the bayonet lug, could dump that side rail too and i'd be happy.
....so when my wife calls and asks you what this must-have Christmas present is that she needed to call you about, you know what to do right? And you totally heard me say I was really going to sell something else this time to defray some of the cost too, and I sounded very serious when I said it. Quoted:

Well I went ahead and preordered one from kvar. Hope it was the right choice. Was thinking of a sam7 but went for this one. Hope it will be a fine weapon that will last.
|
|
So what stock set will fit this rifle? Im ok with a little fitting. I dont want an rpk buttstock. Idealy the red wood set shown above, but i want the handguard to fit like it should.
|
|
Sir, do you know when these will be back in stock? I really want to buy one. I clicked the "email me when product becomes available" button but is there a definite timeframe?
|
|
I picked mine up this past week. it shipped only a few days after I preordered from kvar. It is built very well!
