By that I mean, no add-on's, no modifications-needed. For the guy that just wants to walk in the store and buy the best, most reliable and accurate AK.
Give some technical reasons and general costs as well. In both 7.62x39 and 5.45x39. Ready, Set, Go! |
If you want the best you want a Hungarian, Yugo or Chinese pre ban.
M92 for SBR project.
Arsenal for build quality Wasr for price And of course you can go pre-ban or ban era and de ban it. In my opinion the Chinese AK's are some of the nicest to come in the country. |
Chinese preban Vepr chambered in 5.45 with sgm tactical magazines. |
Sorry. No preban or modified posts allowed.
Please resume. {i.e., keep'em coming} |

Bulgarian SAM7-series
Bulgarian SLR-series Russian Molot Vepr-series |
Pretty much anything from Arsenal.
SGL, SLR, SAM series are all great options. |

Yeah, that would be good. |

There's really nothing left to you besides American-made-with cheapie barrels and parts after that. |

I own a Chinese MAK and a Blugy SLR105A1; to me, they are top tier AKs; may not be cream of the crop AKs, but they are up there.
Lately the best AKs are Arsenal or kits with original barrels built by reputable smiths.

Arsenal
Krebs ... Arsenal again lol The Yugos from century are good too, but arsenal does a more precise job and uses new parts (not used parts kits like some manufacturers) I've used arsenal, century and keeps and they are all good but accuracy was best on the arsenal and fit and finish was tie arsenal/krebs |
You'll never get a consensus on this. AKs aren't fungible goods; they're all slightly different and thus every comparison is, by definition, an apples to oranges comparison.

Stock combloc rifles FTMFW. Season to taste with furniture and optic of choice. |

OK guys...
Now, let's say I want a 7.62x39 AK. No "needed" mods, just a turn-key, stock, current production rifle. Two categories; 1} Price is no issue. 2} Under $1000. Which one to get? Have at it. |

It looks like something I'd be interested in. |

Sad to tell you that all currently made AKs on the market are junk. It is a hit or miss. There is no consistency in quality. They are made from much inferior materials than they used to.

Category 1 - Arsenal SLR-107.
Category 2 - WASR, 10 steel surplus mags, and a case of ammo. I do love my NPAP but the WASR will take all standard AKM accessories. |
