Pretty sure Atlantic and IWI would be two good sources for you. Where were you getting the other info? I know Vietnam has adopted them but I never saw anything about them being made there for import into the US.

The big question then for me I guess is,
Is the magazine shelf on the rifle polymer or steel where the magazine catch inserts
Also is the "shelf" on the lower or upper?

Sorry I know it should be obvious but my old galil is like a standard milled AK
Only better
This is a deal breaker if that shelf plastic...

in the end, you take that plastic crap off the receiver, and it's a standard Galil under there w/o trigger guard and an extended mag release.

This... I know some people don't like him but Rob ski just did a good quick video on dissassembly over on ak operators Union. Shows the receiver interior and that there is nothing to be worried about

If you SBR'ed this, how would you add a stock to it?

I love the ergos of my AR but I feel the Galil is one of the finest military weapons ever made other than being a little on the heavy side and taking Galil only mags.

It's a No frills, 100 % reliability, accurate enough, they run clean/ takes 1 minute maybe 2 to clean and I think the originals are dead sexy without even trying like the girl next door.

This is definitely a step in the right directing taking standard AK mags!

IIRC doesn't the ACE use the micro galil receiver?

No, the micro receiver has the hinge for the folding stock milled into the receiver.

It sure looks like it, and all of the Atlantic photos have one. Just not sure what's going on.

In the video that Rob Ski posted on Youtube there's some type of spring wrapped around it. Now, it does kinda look like a rate reducer spring that they're using as the retaining wire (like in military guns). However, there was no cutout in the right rail for the trip, so maybe that was enough in the government's eyes to be ok'd for importation. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if the ATF did a recall on these eventually.

If they allowed it,  it would be a complete reversal on all of their actions taken against Saigas and Norincos that came in with the third pin -  even though all of those examples had the holes riveted up.

I just ask because I would be very wary of purchasing one given that the ATF has ordered the other offending examples seized from their owners.

Yeah, I know, but it's the ATF. Perhaps because the third pin is actually being used for something it slipped through? I don't know, and like I said, I'd expect them to be recalled by the ATF.

Don't see how this could happen 20 years later. But we see time, & time again that they can change their mind. GARY
