I am weak.
I have no self control. Do I paint or leave it black? If I paint it that means the ole draco SBR will be the only non painted stick in the safe. If I paint it..... I'm thinking Aervoe Field Drab as its a good commie color. DSC_6567 by The Dorsal Fin, on Flickr DSC_6569 by The Dorsal Fin, on Flickr |

While I really like the way it looks currently, I would love to see what it looks like painted. Paint!

I stripped a rail and some other stuff so i can have a SBR painted to match.
This field drab is going to be awesome. Unlike my previous camo jobs this one will be a solid color. |
|
Post pics when you're done. I've been thinking about doing some painting also.

Fin,
I'm sure it will look good OD. I just followed Dragynn's method and sprayed and baked my Draco SBR with the Rustoleum black appliance epoxy paint a week or so ago. Looking fwd to seeing your pics! |

I'm all about the rattle can, Do you have an example of what you think you want it to look like? Almost like the Alfa clones?

The force is strong with that stick paint it if you like otherwise let her bark define what she is. If your path is to paint then go forth and paint her, but she will bark the same wether black orange or yellow. As long as you take her out to bark fire balls it makes no matter. Post pics of what you dress her in in the end.

Can you give me a brief description on how you prepare your rifle for painting? Such as, do you wipe it down with anything in particular to help the paint adhere better?

View Quote Depends on the job I'm doing. If it's a camo pattern I tape off optics and wipe off any oil and then go to town. Start with light base and use dark colors for pattern or accent. For this one being one color I'm going to detail strip it, wipe down parts to remove oils etc... And then hang up parts and paint. I'll see about taking pics |

Didn't turn out like I planned. The single color was awesome - but it just wasn't right. So I busted out the brown and went for the Gruppa99 color scheme as seen below. http://i.imgur.com/5pKJCp2.jpg And it turned out awesome. The field drab made a great base to pattern off of, now to paint some other stuff http://i.imgur.com/2eJXVQR.jpg View Quote Nice! |

That did turn out awesome! Mine's not looking quite that good.

Is there a "painted AK" thread? We should start one. I could add a couple right off the bat!
|

Dude it looks tight!!! Did you just spray some lines on it for the brownie use cardboard to keep the spray in a line?
Also do you have a pic of what it looked like before? |
