Picked up a new underfolder recently.  These are fairly new to the market, very few reviews and not many pictures so I thought I post a quick first look review.  Hopefully will follow up with a range report once the weather is a little warmer.  Destructive Device Industries took over all the old Waffen Werks assets and is now producing their own rifles.  Right now they are producing milled underfolders and fixed stock versions.  Some early reports on these were good so I thought I'd pick one up.  The rifle actually shipped in a Waffen Werks box but I could see no markings on the rifle indicating anything other than DDI.

I like the placement of the serial number and manufacturer markings under the trigger guard

It is also marked DDI on the rear of the receiver

The finish on the rifle is excellent, perhaps the best I have ever seen on an AK.  It is a deep dark black and it very evenly applied to the whole rifle.  Will definitely be interested to see how it holds up

The internals look good, definitely looks like it was fired at the factory

Chrome lined barrel from Green Mountain

Tapco G2 trigger

I opted for bakelite on this one, added the grip and mags myself.  Surplus stuff but it looks to be in great shape

The underfolding mechanism works well, it has a little play in it but locks up tight and is comparable to other underfolders I have had experience with

Overall, for $800 I am very impressed and I hope it shoots as good as it looks

Not a problem, I really like it so far. Definitely curious as to how it will shoot and luckily it will be in the 50s here this weekend

Thanks for sharing.

I've been trying to decide between one of these and the NPAP DF.

Looks like the hole for the safety selector is out of spec. I had that same gap (gap between selector and dust cover) on a vector polish underfolder kit rifle I owned.

I almost purchased one of these DDI rifle as well. But ended up with factory Bulgarian underfolder instead.

I put 400 rounds through mine today.  Had one failure to feed.  Shot about 5 inches low out of the box at 50 yards but got it sighted in quick.  Overall I am very pleased with the rifle
