Kinda want one....but only if there is some benefit over my draco SBR.
If there is isn't any practical benefits then I'll just get more mags and ammo |
I really like mine but I can't really see any major benefits of the 107 over the draco but that never stopped most of us from getting something
I have a rule about my guns not being too similar and the 107 and the Draco are pretty much different animals, so I would. |
I've moved out of all of my AK's with the exception of my draco and spent more time on building SBR AR's.
Honestly if mags were cheaper I would snag a SLR-106 as steel case .223 is no more expensive that 7.62x39. I'd also be able to use it in my AR's and it would be more cost effective. That said I still have cases of x39 Other than wanting one the benefits need to be worth it to spend a grand. |
Sight radius on the 107 is longer so using iron sights should be easier. Also should have less muzzle blast. Short barrel AKs are fun but I prefer carbine length AKs.
Color me prejudiced (and many will ) but I think your Draco is f'ing awesome, if anything i'd be inclined to add a companion .308 AK for longer range and call it good.

This thread is useless without pics of said Draco SBR.
If it were me, I'd go 107; but IIRC your Draco is pretty cool. |

Quoted:
Is the triangle or poly stock preferred on the 107's? View Quote Poly stock (to me) has a bit more utility since you can store a cleaning kit in it, and should be faster to release and unfold; but, the triangle does get style points. Might be a bit more sturdy too for all I know. |
I think the 100 series polymer folder is sexier than the triangle folder, but that's me. Plus, I like the cleaning kit storage.
As a 106 owner...I wanted a full size rifle.
I don't think the 107 does anything "better" than your sweet draco. A poly stock would look killer on the sbr, but I prefer it to the triangle. How far can you hit with that thing? |

View Quote at 100 yards I can dominate a 8" plate. at 200 yards I can connect if I do my part on the 12" plate, but not every singe shot - sights are the limiting factor IMO. |
I'm a huge fan of the 104/105 rifles Fin. In fact I have my Form 1 in now for a 105. That being said, if you want a nice collector piece, I think that the 107 would be a great addition. Every other opinion above I pretty much agree on.
If you have the funds and the time, why not? |

I haven't really shot my SGL-21 since I got it, really I've only zeroed it and that's it. It's a bad ass rifle and I love it, but whenever I get ready to hit the range, the Draco SBR always wins out. It does everything the SGL does, but in a way cooler package. I think if you got one Fin, it would just collect dust in the back of the safe like my SGL.

This is the feedback I was looking for from folks with both (all others feedback I'm thankful for as well ). I'll snag an ultimak and call it a day. Now I'll say this - if magpul releases a 5.56 mag at SHOT that works with the SLR-106 series it will cause me to get one. I'd FO now but I refuse to pay $50 per mag. ETA: ultimak ordered - saved me $900 |

I'll say it. Get both.
But seriously... I'm a 'two is one, one is none" kinda guy. I like having a his and her gun in a said caliber. I have a Romy G kit / 107 lookalike gun with the poly folder w/red dot. Love it. Also have a Draco pistol, SB47 brace build with flashlight. Love it. Both have ultimaks. Different purposes come to mind, but one is not better than the other. BTW, your Draco inspired mine. Sweet looking stick. |
slr107 is pure sex, I would also vote both
or, I would add a proper triangle folder to your draco, if possible |
I've decided that I'll wait and see what comes to market first in Q1 2015.
a.) magpul 5.56 mags - I'll get a SLR-106F B.) Galil ACE rifle |
I've got a 107 and I've got krinks, (5.45 though) and had a 106.
Knowing what I do now, I would buy a Shit load of x39. I would actually say sell the draco since the rest of your rifles are in 556 but your in to a tax stamp so that's not going to happen. In my experience every time I shot 556 through the 106 I was thinking to myself how much better the AR shoots it- and I'm an AK lover. My 106 seemed to be very over gassed too though. And as for the 107- I wasn't overly impressed so it's probably not worth it in my opinion. Ammo>106>107 |
I ordered another case of 7.62, the ultimak, and a muzzle device from cnc warrior.
Should tide me over for a while Unless there is a stellar Black Friday deal on something. |
don't know if this is the "best" price
but it is an SLR 107 with a triangle folder... in stock https://www.k-var.com/shop/SLR107-34.html pure sex, wish I had more funds available - I would pick up a pair |
Might be worth waiting until Black Friday.
K-VAR has had some killer deals in the past (during slow years). |
I originally thought you where trying to compare the SBR Draco to the SLR107CR sbred. wouldn't that be a closer match size and feature wise to the draco SBR?

There are a few 107's on gunbroker NIB from dealers ranging from $920-950

Had a guy offer me a 107 FR triangle folder for $1000 plus 5 mags and 80 rounds of ammo.
But I had my mind set on 5.45. |
I FO'd.
snagged the painted one off GB for a song. Since it's camo'd I'll have to research popular Russian camo paint jobs and replicate them. This will be my "modern" AK |
I own a DRACO and it has been flawless shooter from day one. HP/FMJ/SP, it will eat, spit and shit anything I can stuff into the magazine. They are built in a factory that has made military AKs for years and years not someplace that opened up last month and is simply trying to cobble some worn out parts together with a domestic made barrel and receiver whose only criteria was they had to be cheap. Accurate as any other AK I've shot from a rest. Eventually I will get around to SBRing it on a form 1 but honestly, right now I am satisfied using a sling point on the grip to create a two point attachment with a short sling and using the extend and keep pushing method for shooting.

Very nice score. Gratz!
ETA: I don't know how folks like the triangle over the poly. It's truly amazing. What's your thought now that you have both? |

That's not a bad camo job on that rifle.
But the fun is changing stuff so you like it. I'm in for final results when you get it done.
