Here's an interesting rifle to appraise:  Century M70AB2T (thin receiver, underfolding), bought back in 2010.  The plastic furniture has been replaced with apex wood and an authentic M70 pistol grip.  The catch is that the barrel does not look perfect inside.  It shoots straight, but it looks like there are dots (maybe pitting?) inside.  It came that way and has been reliable/accurate whenever I shot it.

As far as I know, this is a Romanian SAR3 in 5.56.  Looks to have been fired once (test fired) as there is still cosmoline (?) inside.

It's been stored by the original owner quite a few years and looks to be in very good condition.  I don't think the original owner fired it.  He's not with us, so I can't ask.

Edited the pic as it included more than the rifle...VA-gunnut

Hope I got the rules correct and all the info needed.  Thanks.

Is this still the going rate for a SAR-3?  An LGS has one at $750 w/one 5 rd mag and I'm interested.

$750 is too high.  Closer to $600 is current market value.

Whats this package worth?

I have a Yugo underfolder in good condition.

rifling is still tight.

No front sight cant.

It runs flawlessly with any ammo.

It now has a poly front handguard, but the original wood is perfect.

I have a NIB 2000 SAR-1 Original owner with all butcher paper wrapped accessories. The rice paper box is wrinkled, but it is serial numbered to the rifle. It came with the nice romy laminated wood, not that red painted crap.
The only time the rifle is been out of the box,I sent it to JBI a couple years to have it debanned.I don't have any current pics as it is buried in the safe, and not easy to get at.Been in controlled heat/air all its life.
Still have the debanned gas block.
Thanks.

If it is in good shape somewhere between $700-750 would be about right, $900 is too much.

This is a tough one to price as it is fairly custom.  I would say somewhere between $800-900 is fair.

Wow, someone did a number on it and cut the barrel down and pinned on an AMD 65 brake, that will hurt the value.  I'd say it is worth $400-450.

It seems there have been a couple of versions from century and this was one of the first revs.

Great receiver and build but non matching.   Took it out today and it shoots like a champ.

A bit of cheek slap however...

SGL should run around $1K if it is in good condition, PK-01 is worth around $200.  OD furniture can be purchased a k-var here: OD Warsaw for $110.

Ok, it is a Norinco 313.  Imported by Cheshire & Perez in Monrovia, CA  Never even removed all of the cosmoline from it.  Has the broken shell extractor & cleaning kit in the butt, and the gas adjust "tool"

Short stroke gas system

Muzzle threads are right hand

3 position gas, 2 ports & "off" in the center

Import mark is electro-chem etched.

It would be good to know a value for insurance purposes.   A couple of threads I found from 2012 on other boards say it is "rare" but those threads derailed over personal stuff.  I knew Chuck Cheshire personally, and this has been in my safe since 1989 or so.

Just wondering.

Let's see, AK74. Built from Bulgarian kit that had the original combloc chrome lined barrel. NDS reciever. all new Magpul zhukov furniture and I have original plum furniture. Midwest industrys optic mount. PA advanced micro dot. Not pictured is a CNC warrior compact break. I have 16 Tapco mags and about 3500 rounds of 7n6

What do you think the entire package would go for?

Im almost certain that's a Type 81 also called the model 313,very, very rare.

I would say easily over $5000 and im probably REALLY low on that figure.I wouldnt be shocked if it wasnt double that and then some in that condition.

If it was mine and wanted to put insurance value on it,it would be north of $10K for insurance purposes, maybe even $15K to be on the safe side.

Thanks for sharing the pics thats a beauty, nice to see it in pristine condition.Value will only increase on that.

Thanks for the info.  I can give you a little back story on how this rifle came to be at C&P  Chuck Cheshire was a competitive rifle shooter. Won some matches with a 30-06 in his day.  He was not fond of the "bumper jack" that Colt was selling to police departments.  The Law Enforcement sales were his business, and he was competing with Colt for sales - but S&W did not offer a Rifle. The SLA shootout in 1974 had made departments aware of how much they needed rifles.

The rifles were imported as "313 Heavy Barrel Target Rifle".  Chuck was not thrilled with the accuracy - military 7.62x39 was not exactly match ammo.

After that he focused on just selling handguns to departments. About that time 40 S&W came along, and he had no trouble selling pistols.

He was in fact responsible for much of the LEO training in CA at one time.

Chuck in center:

Your welcome,glad to help out.

Wow, thats some great background on the rifle and how it became to be imported.

Thanks for that bit of history on it,never knew any of that.

From what i know about the rifle, the Chinese military used these and may still be using them and their designation is the Type 81.Im assuming once these got the ok to be imported they renamed it the 313.

If you went to China and asked about a model 313 they would probably look like this.  Now if you asked about the Type 81 they would know what it is right away

Im wondering if our friends up in Canada can get these.

First pic there is a Type 81 in the background.

Got a trade offer but I am so inexperienced with AK's it isn't funny. Any help or advice is appreciated.

I have a Kimber Custom II with 5 mags and Alien Gear holster. Guy is offering me a converted Saiga with 3 mags and some ammo. He wants $100 as a kicker.

I offered straight up trade but he won't budge. I have been looking for a Saiga AK for a while so, the urge is there but, I want to put brains before emotion.

Not really a price check Q? but how did the Arsenal v. FIME crap work out. IMO quality is equal, but in a few years will there still be a premium on the Asrsenal Legion Saigas v. the FIME rifles (the fixed stock versions not the folders)?

As long as ignorant forum-sluts buy things because of the name, Arsenals will continue to command a premium over FIME, IMO. "Board-think" is too strong to overcome facts, I've found.
