I have never owned or even shot an Ak 47 but I am wanting to buy an underfolder type Ak. I want reliability right out of the box. My budget would be around $800. What would you recommend? I was looking at the century Yugo M70AB2 or the Yugo Zastava N-PAP Underfolder.. Are the underfolders hard to shoot as far as cheek weld? I have read some bad reviews on the Yugo M70AB2 as far of problems straight out of the box.I did a search on underfolders and I did not come up with anything.

The Yugo Npap is a sturdy gun and the most economical choice of what is on the market now.

Then use the Echo Nine Three cheek rest to get that good cheek weld.

Yes, if you want to close it. But if you leave it open for ever it wouldn't hurt.

Also, if you want to be able to fold the stock when ever you please and still have a cheek riser you could go with a AMD-65 TECH'S
UNDERFOLDER STOCK ADAPTER, while I don't have an underfolder I do have the east german wire stock with an AMDtech riser and I love it.

NPAP is good to go
Just make sure you get the 1 with Grenade launcher sight because that usually means what its using a surplus trunnion/barrel

Put some wood on there and you are gold ^
if its bad just return it to century? You get a 1 year warranty

Unfortunately, the "True" military folders with Nade launcher and tritium extendable sights etc are gone...

is there any difference between the Yugo M70AB2 and the Yugo Zastava N-PAP Underfolder? other then the poly foregrip or would I be better off with the Romanian AK47 underfolder with the CL barrel for $180 more?

Being how its snap on and snap off. NO.

The gun still folds. This gives a usable ambidextrous cheek weld with no mods. WIN!

No different than inserting and removing a magazine.

I would get the Npap. The Serb rifle has an excellent metal finish and nice wood. The finish on my Opap is excellent and comparable to rifles twice the cost. The Romanian rifle will have a thin black paint finish that is easily scratched and the wood will not be as nice. I would not pay much more for a chrone lined rifle. It is not that big of deal, especially if you clean and maintain your rifle. The Serb Npap is outstanding quality for the money and I would consider it a best buy from todays options.

I think the M70AB2 rifles are kits that were put together here in the us along with a us made barrel and us made receiver. While the npap is a new rifle made in Serbia with a serbian CHF barrel. I would choose the npap over the M70AB2 but Ymmv.

I would suggest you watch this, yes it's James Yeager get over it. IMHO underfolders are sexy as hell but suck to shoot. Unless you have a storage concern I would look at a good fixed stock or solid side folder.

I wondered if the underfolder would be an issue to shoot.

I think the idea is you slap it on the stock in about two seconds when you take it out shooting.

Never had issues shooting wire-side or under-folders. Shrug, maybe Chuck is doing it wrong.

on the Yugo n pap underfolder, can the sling attachment switch over for a lefty? looks like the clip in on the underfolder bolt and wonder if it can be switched sides
