[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Century pistol stabilizing brace for AK's

I haven't seen this posted online anywhere yet but while making my way through the NRA show this weekend in Houston, I stumbled across the Century Intl. booth. On the table I spotted a "pistol stabilizing brace" specifically for pistol AK models. Ignoring the advertised purpose for these I think it will be a good solution for AK owners behind enemy lines who are not allowed SBR's or for those of us that want to save the $200 for a NFA stamp. It is just like the AR version about to be released by Sig seen here:

According to the Century rep they already have ATF approval and will be released in the next couple months.

This looks like one of those things ATF will approve, and then go back on their word when they suddenly realize people use them illegally as stocks instead of arm wraps....

There is a thread in GD discussing this. Someone already got one. They're good to go apparently but yes BATF could change there mind at anytime. Personally I don't there any worse than the slidefire and that's still hangin around.

Hmmm, this sparks some thought....

if Ar15 pistols are still pistols with buffer tubes,

are ak's pistols still considered pistols if one were to put a buffer tube on the back?

I understand Ar's buffer tube is part of the action and function of the bolt.

Im asking simply from brainstorming.... i Know a lot of people put tennis balls on the back of Ar pistol buffer tubes and use them comfortably as stocks, could you do the same with an AK pistol without having to get the tax stamp?

lol I think I'd rather just have a short barreled AK with a barrel extension (if I couldn't get an SBR).

While I understand the concept that is the dumbest looking piece of manufacturing I have seen in some time.

This. It looks awful and I am sure Century put their finest chimp engineers on the project of making it as cheaply as possible.

Personally (if I simply wanted to avoid the NFA-SBR process) I would rather have an AK with a folding stock and a 16" barrel with no muzzle device.

But that's just me
