These are from Gruppa 99's 2013 calendar. A lot of western gear on the rifle and the model. Mounted on the TWS Gen. 2 top cover is an Elcan DR Spectre. Notice the lack of a proper cheekweld. Camo job is incredible, though. CAA M4 buttstock and LHV-47 handguards.

The chest rig in the AK photos is a Crye Precision JPC (Jumpable Plate Carrier) with no armor, and the mag pouches are HSGI Taco's. His balaclava is an Underarmour Tactical Hood and he's wearing some Peltor's.

Next set of photos comes from some SWAT officers from the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs.

A Vortex Sparc, Hogue AK grip, Mission First Tactical AK handguards, CAA/EMA LHV-47 Gen. 2's, and Magpul RVG's all make an appearance.

Note the different latch release button on this AK-100 stock.

Those top pics are the first time I have seen Russian operators using Tacos. Pretty cool to see, Tacos are the shit.

I wonder if we'll ever see them use Ultimaks, since they are probably one of the most popular micro red dot mounting solutions for the AK here in the US.

I think we have a very big advantage in the US, gear wise, because of our massive civilian market. Russia, and really most of the world, do not have a huge civilian market for this stuff to be funded by.

I'm fascinated by the adoption of a lot of western gear. Aimpoints and Eotechs are mainstays now, and even smaller firms in the US seem to have a presence overseas.

I'm surprised that the Russian market hasn't stepped it up, but entrepreneurial development is a lot slower due to their bureaucracy.

I also think it's something to do with the US "mystique", the way some of us can't get enough of Eastern gear and optics.

Good pics. Thanks for sharing. Do you have link to the Russian website? I don't need English.

I was going to remark that most of those handguards don't have heatshields.....then I realized that it looks like it's -20 degrees Fahrenheit in those pics. They probably warm their hands on it!

Sweet link, Drake

No Georgians in this picture. That's former president and current prime minister of RF, Dmitri Medvedev. He is standing next to Ramzan Kadyrov (young guy), Chechen warlord turned governor of Chechnya. I don't know of the top of my head who the older guy (with gray hair) is. The rifle he's holding had a testing nomenclature of AK-200 at first, and then AK-12. It was a part of the rifle modernization program for 100-series AK rilfes. Now AK-12 is a fundamentally different project.

AK-200 was an myth of mass media. Izhmash officials confirmed that.

I didn't know that. Thanks for sharing. In either case, it was a project to modernize AK-74M and 100-series rifles.

BTW, I am from Minsk. Left a long time ago though. Hope бацька is treating you guys well.

Never shot one? They are actually very nice shooting little pistols and are compact. I like them at least.

Yeah, I own one and have owned several. I think they're neat guns, but in the world of modern polymer hi-cap pistols in service calibers, they don't compare.  It's a funny juxtaposition to see them alongside those modern rifles, optics, etc.

Did anyone else notice a lack of 922r compliance parts on those AKs?

edit: The MFT handguards are 1 compliance part!
