Saiga says what pistol grip? Seriously, what's wrong with the original P-grip?

I use the original, it fits my hand perfectly.

I'm using a US Palm Battle Grip. It feels good in the hand. And, I needed a compliance part which it works well for.

I'm pretty fond of the one that came standard on my SLR-107CR. Come to think of it... I liked the ones that came standard on my SAR-1, my two SAR-2's, my M70-AB2, my MKII, etc.   I've never really seen the need to swap mine out for anything else. To each their own I suppose.

I really like Ironwood's "Fat" pistol grips and have them on several of my AK's.

For wood grips, I like the Bulgy/Chicom wide grips with checkering. For polymer grips, I like the Bulgy Saw grip and Bulgy ARSF grip with the lettering on the left side. Not sure what you call it, but Arsenal uses them on their milled right-side folding AK's.

I have gone through a few grips(stock polymer, Hogue, Ergo, Battle Grip, SAW, etc). I determined I liked the grip angle of the stock grip the best, but needed something thicker.
Enter the Bulgarian fat grip.

Hogue. The original was like holding a pencil.

What's funny is he already said he didn't like the Hogue and yet that's what some of you are suggesting. Me thinks you didn't read the OP. Like you I hate the Hogue grip, and I'll either run a Tango Down (US Palm), factory grip, Yugo grip, or Bulgarian SAW grip.

I have a Hogue on my M70AB2 and really like it.  My other two AK's have the grip shown below and is my favorite overall.

Made in the USA and fits my hand perfect.

I've always liked the original poly grip, never had any issues with it.  My 74 came with an ATI grip and it was way too thick for my hand.

MOLOT and Izzy. Outside of those, just give me a standard polymer grip.

I am currently using a slightly chopped up Magpul MOE grip WITHOUT a silly grip adapter.

Uspalm. It feels good in the hands and doesn't look too tacticool or completely out of place on an ak like the Mako does.

+1 It also allows me to get more leverage on the grip to get the rifle up in front of me for mag changes. The small stock grip was horrible in that respect.

I use the factory PG on my black AK's, and Bakelight on my wood AK's

However, i am a AK purest, and the thought of a hogue or tapco grip makes me want to puke in my mouth...

An AK purest wouldn't have a "black" AK, LOL.

Why is that? They have been black for 20+ years?

Except the part about Poland, Russia, and Bulgaria all using black furniture, of course.

These are by far my two favorites. I'm using the MD Arms Molot grip on everything right now.

AK grips I've used, rated best to worst in my ever-so-humble opinion:
1. US Palm Grip: Very comfy, and the storage area is easily usable.
2. Hogue Grip: Works very well for me. Finger swells aren't for everyone.
3. CAA UPG47: One of the better ones for big hands. Not 922r compliant, though.
4. Tapco Synthetic Grip: It's like a standard AK grip, but 922r compliant.
5. AMD-65 Pistol Grip: I don't find stock AK grips to be as bad as some people make them out to be. Nothing to write home about, of course, but it works.

The US Palm is a bit better than the Hogue in my book, but it's really neck and neck. A rubberized US Palm Grip would take home the gold.

Also, honorable mention goes to the ATI Fiberforce stock, which is hugely under-rated. It is, by far, one of the more comfortable setups I've used on an AK.

Just in jest to the older wooden AK's some people think they all should look like.

I have no problem putting anything on any weapon that gives the shooter an advantage. A good grip on a rifle can be as good of an addition as any other mod.

Just ordered two shiny plums from k-var, one for my aks-74 (mated with proper russian hg's i just bought as well) and one for my krink (which will also wear russian wood).  both those rifles are bulgarian.

the akm russian wood that's currently on my aks-74 will be swapped over to my khyber build.

the wife's tantal has a standard black us-made grip (but may try out the ergo currently on the khyber), the M92 has the original black yugo grip, the m70 BFPU wears the original grip.....

there's a pattern here.

I have a hogue which works well on my saiga 12.  The original commie grip works fine on my SAR1 as well.  I have snapped a tapco saw grip off of my saiga 7.62x39 conversion so I will probably try out a US palm

I currently use the Mako also. I did have to file down the finger groove a bit but so far I like it the best.  The standard grip is too small for my hand. I have tried Tapco SAW, Bulgarian RPK,  ATI, US Palm, Molot style, and Ergo.  None have been perfect.  I cant believe how much I have spent on various grips. I have the same problem with my ARs.
