What would a Russian Type 3 Kit be worth?

I am being offered one in a trade, and cant find much on them.

Barrel included?

Reweldable condition?

Matching numbers?

Year of manufacture?

I would hazard a guess that you could be looking at a $1000 kit.

I've been exchanging PM's with him about this kit.

It's a fixed stock T3 kit. Reweldable for sure. Non-matching serials. Counter bored barrel. Wood is decent looking, could refinish nicely.

I figure it's worth about $850. The counter bored barrel is the main reason.. that makes it a tough sell to most people since you can't really bullet test the barrel or have any idea if it'll make a good shooter until it's actually a rifle again.

Yep, the barrel would be a deal killer for me.

BTW, have you seen that Type II kit that's on GB ?

Yep. That price is pretty out of control. But I guess on something rare like that it's worth whatever someone is willing to pay. Makes my kit seem cheap.. haha It was $1200 in 2010 and I was the only bidder so I felt like I over paid.

Basically non-matching with a Type 1 selector. The selector is probably whats driving the price that high.

Put a round in the muzzle of the barrel. You can get a rough idea of how worn the barrel is by how much of the barrel goes into the rifle. If the barrel swallows the entire bullet, its shot out. Of course this won't tell you anything about the throat of the barrel.

You can't do this with a counter bored barrel because the muzzle has been drilled out.
