I remember hearing good things about this one. Here is my question... with so many manufacturers, models, bells, and whistles. which ones are junk. which ones are the middle of the road, and what are the top of the line. The criteria is accuracy, functionality, ease of shooting, and the availability of replacement parts/magazines. I would think the Russian, Chinese and the Polish are the more desirable???? What about the MAK 90? Please advise Thank you for your time Curt The Mak 90 is a great rifle. You'll have to deban it if you go that route. Nowadays, anything from Arsenal is right at the top except some custom made rifles from top builders like Krebs or Rifle Dynamics. |

Most have functioned well. But I have always experienced trigger bite
This is easy to fix if you get one that has trigger slap. and the availability of replacement parts/magazines
The standard steel surplus mags (7.62 x 39) are all over the place ($10-$15) and are the time tested proven, most reliable AK mags out there...they will fit most all 7.62 AK's. Not much breaks on an AK, but parts are easy to find. which ones are junk. which ones are the middle of the road, and what are the top of the line.
bottom = WASR....not junk, are just as reliable as higher priced AK's...fit and finish is lacking. Still a decent AK. Built in Romania and modified here to take standard mags. middle=Yugo, Polish, Romanian rifles built here by Century from part kits. They have better fit and finish than the WASR, but quality can vary depending on the builder. top of the line= Arsenal (Russian imported), Arsenal (Bulgarian milled rifles), original Chinese rifles (Poly, Norinco, MAC90's) All very nice rifles, but pricey. ***these are just opinions, so anyone feel free to add** |
