THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT
I saw bullet guides on Carolina Shooters Supply and was wondering what it was for.
I am also looking for the most effective muzzle break for rapid firing.

bullet guides ensure proper feeding with surplus mags. I have had rifles that didn't "need" it but got one anyway. The Russians have been making AKs for a long time, I have a tendency to believe they have an idea they know what they're doing.

As for muzzle devices, a lot of good reviews on the FSC, I have not used it. I like to use the 74 style with the 24mm threads.

The most effective brakes I have seen for the AK are the FSC47, Dynacomp, Battlecomp, NightBrake, and of course a 74 brake.
The Battlecomp is grossly overpriced.

The bullet guides are for Saiga conversions, as they don't come in the country in sporter form with one installed.

Thx. sorry for the delayed reply. I had a very busy weekend. making a baby room for the baby due in Nov.

I bought a tapco 74 style break for a mosin nagant project and like it on the AK. I need 2 of these for my nagants and thought of what replacement would be best for the AK.
I will look up the products listed l8r. thx.

I was wondering about the bullet guide. I have a few issues with my AK. I got gun show (bear) ammo for it and every now and then when I pull the bolt back to manually load a round (happened twice in 500 rounds), the gun jams and the tip of the bullet gets mashed on something. the other problem I'm having is about one FTF per mag. I need to buy some better ammo and see if it's my ammo or the AK. If it's not the ammo, I will be here asking more questions.
thanks

*to see if the FTF is caused by the ammo I meant*

smashed bullet is what happens with no bullet guide. It's hitting the barrel right below the breach.

The SRVV JET is on par with the dynacomp as far as the best brakes in the game in my opinion but the JET costs less than half, even with shipping.

Here's a quick review I did of it...

You are going to be disappointed by the Tapco 74 brake, it is not a true 74 brake.
It lacks an expansion chamber, lacks moon/zigzag slotting, and the holes are in the wrong spots on the body.

The Tapco may be not as "good" as a true Combloc AK-74 brake ....but it is effective.... see here....

at a minimum buy the 24 to 14x1 adapter and run a true 74 brake. I've been down this road and using the real brake is 100% better over the tapco....IMO and experience.

That's because it's adding a a block of metal on the end of the muzzle, the weight makes the muzzle not rise as much.
More effective than a slant? Yes, but what isn't?
Effective as a real 74 brake? No.
Worth buying? I suppose that is up to the individual since it is cheaper.

I just like to inform people that it does not function the same as the 74 brake. Since Tapco names it as such it misleads a lot of people.
