Nicely done TX-Zen, you have always been a quality poster in this forum and you continue to be.
Feel free to promote your site in this forum, as you are not doing this for profit, so you are good with the Conduct Code. I see the archive toggle is set. To keep this thread out of the archives. And why the yearly bumps put this thread back on page 1 of the forum. Well done with the effort. |

OP, big thanks. The Kobra Optics have been one of my favorites since the early 2000s. My wife then and I both had them on our SAR1 AKs, then we put a Weaver / Picatinny mount one on Mossberg 500 HD gun. I bought one and put it on my Arssenal, and put one on an AR. I hadn't bought one since about 2015 until a couple of years ago. I bought one for my son's PSA GF3 AK. I had to go back and use your source to zero it it'd been so long.
The one I bought for him I got from Optics Planet. It's different from all the others I've bought, in that it doesn't have the round on/off switch. To turn it off and on, you press and hold a small, straight button on the bottom of the optic. It's the same one that changes reticles. Now, the optic has everything else that the real ones have as far as metal construction, cutouts, type of screws etc. It came with the Russian manual with the correct signatures in the correct places. It came in the correct box. I've never seen one with the on/off switch in that location, personally I don't like it there. The old switch was much better. This one, as with all others I've had, says Axiom for the manufacturer. Can you ease my mind and tell me if this is a real Kobra? I will try to post pics asap. @TX-Zen |

Upon more investigation, it appears that this is a legit Axion brand Kobra. It's the EKP-1S-03, and it is on their website. However, it is NOT a Russian military optic. It's a Russian hunting optic, so I don't know if this is built to the same rugged standards the military optics are. Maybe they come off the same line and just have a bit different electronic switching controls. At least they aren't airsoft, but, being a recent manufacture, who knows the real quality, as we've seen some messed up QC in their invasion of Ukraine. I'd give my left , well, you know, to get a model with the on/off knob that you twist. It's so much faster and you know when it's on or off. Here's a link to the Axion site with the optic I have. https://kobra.axion.ru/en/catalog/okhota/ekp-1s-03/ @TX-Zen |
