Exercise of the initial firing (2UNS)

"Shooting with a place, on a fixed purpose, in the day-time".

Type of weapon: AK-74 (RPK)

Target: "shooting mark No. 4"

Range to target: 100 meters

The number of ammunition: 6 (2x3)

Time to fire: unlimited.

Position for firing: lying, with support.

Ratings

"Very good" = 25

"Good" = 20

"Satisfactory" = 15

Exercise is performed in two series - 3 + 3 rounds. After the first series, shooter, with the instructor of firing, goes near a target and estimates the results. The second series - test firing.

This is the minimum that should be able to AK shooter. How much I know, in most of the divisions (not infantry), this exercise is the only thing.

In more difficult variant is "exercise No. 3", a "jumper" is added ("shooting mark No. 7"), on distance 200 meters. This target requires only a "hit".

wayfaerer;

For some reason now the pix come up for me.

As I've said...pix are worth a thousand words, and yours help explain the cof info alot.

Thanks!!

This is an easy COF to shoot, even with the less accurate of my AK's, but I am going to try to see if my local print shop can make me up some targets and I give it a whirl.

My local {small-town} newspaper has prints targets for me that I design for our shooting on the place here.  $30/100. Only problem is that they need to fit their paper stock.

Greg_357:  Thiis site is GREAT for build and info on the different types of accessories and models of the AK-series rifles.  As for the shooting of them and such, I cannot find a section where that is emphasized.  Might be more of a collectors site.

I see you have posted on the AR side.  My recommendation is that you keep your comments on the M16 to that side.  The M16 is not welcome here unless yo have something bad to say about it.

Thanks wayfaerer and,

Best.

Well, yeah, damn seriously.

As for the shill account bs, go ahead and check.

This guy ain't me.  Check him out if you like.

Look, this is not a site that has much posted about shooting AK's.  It is a site about collecting and working on them.  There is nothing wrong with that in my opinion.

If you guys want to fuss some more over my opinions feel free to.  You have yours, I mine.

Editted to add; "and working on" because that applies, too.

The problem is not that you have your opinions and that your opinions diverge from those of others. The problem is that you deliberately instigate drama and unnecessary bullshit. By all means, continue to express your opinions, but without provoking conflict. This is an online community - we must be mindful of that, and try to maintain a peaceful, consensual, and tolerant atmosphere.

Well that would be fine as far as I'm concerned.  I've already pm'd the mods about that last thread where you guys jumped on me.

Honestly, is this site for those who worship the AK and 2 or three members here or for those who use the rifle and appreciate it?

Tell me and if it is the former I'll be glad to move on. Or, rather, have the moderators tell me.

Why don't you save the drama and just move on?

Hundreds of people post here constantly without causing much of a stir and by and large the community is always ready to lend a hand. When people decide they need to troll in a thinly veiled way it's not uncommon for them to get run off. Most of us are here to participate, not stir shit up.

Be an adult and post like one, or be an adult and escort yourself out. There's really not much else to say.

I think you are right.

This is not a shooter's site.  That is OK.  I don't fault anybody for being a collector or gun nut otherwise, but should have done my homework and looked for posts of users of the AK.  This is a site that does not have many posts on target shooting, hunting, or any other use of the AK.  Knowledgeable folks about the gun, more or less, but not shooters.

You make good points.  i've been doing some web searches and find more actual shooters on gunboards and akforum.  So with that,

Sorry I got you guys all revved up.

{thanks waayfaerer; you addressed the topics}

Here's an open letter to the moderators.

I tried to email va-gunnut, but see it came to me.  Evidentally I could not email the "system" that locked the thread;

"Thank you for locking the thread.

Feel free to ask me any question you like if you want to determine what I'm up to.

I assure you the thread was no troll.

If you'd like to see the results of my research as it unfolds, I'd be glad to provide it to the forum.  I'm getting some interesting information from Finnish sources some of which I already posted, and hope to from Russian sources soon also.

Maybe this forum is not the place for this information?

If you'd rather I just left, well, just say the word.

For myself, I don't worship any of these rifles, but am fascinated by all.

At this point I'm pretty soured on the forum, I must say, but that is probably obvious.

Best."

PS:  Let the feeding frenzy begin.  LOL.

Wayfarer, above it says Ak-74 (RPK).  Is this for the RPK or the AK-74 or both?  The RPK being the heavy barreled LMG that fits the automatic rifleman role.
Is this for a recruit, or the Army standard qualification?  Do you know if it is an annual or semi-annual requirement?

Thanks for the info, Greg.
