THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT
Got a 7.62x54R Hunter and a .308 Hunter. Should have taken more pics of the .308 but it is pretty similar to the 54R rifle. I like the "trigger module" of the Hunter line of rifles.

trigger module removed....

Hunter .308 with top rail

Will try to fire them this weekend. Have some handloads that give really tight groups in both my .308 Rem700 heavy barrel and a Rem Model 7.
I hated going to weddings. All the grandmas would poke me and say "You're next". They stopped that when I started doing it to them at funerals.

Awesome rifles there, looking forward to a report.

edit: Does that 7.62x54r magazine have a steel rear locking tab?

can you take a closer picture of the scope mount? I want to see what that area looks like on/off.

That 54R hunter looks great, I like they gave it a side rail too. Interesting rifles.

Thanks for posting...I know I'd appreciate more pics too if you have a chance, I'd also like to see more of the top rail on the 308

I don't think those are the hunter models. The hunter had the thumbhole stock. Yours are pioneers, if I'm not mistaken.

Either way, looks great. I'm thinking about picking one up in 7.62x54R soon in one of the various VEPR configurations.

Nice.
A 9mm might expand to .45, but a .45 will never shrink to 9mm.

The rail accepts the FPK/PSL scope I have. It is a much better incarnation of the FPK/PSL scope rail.

Yes, these are Hunter models.

No, those aren't. Your front sight/gas block is combined in your rifles. The link you sent me to has a separate front sight.

Instead go here.

It has the hunting style stock specifically designated as the "Pioneer" model.

I realize the front sight is different. But the boxes on both and manuals say 'Hunter" Even the laser engraving say Hunter..

Don't know if the Wolf page needs updating or not. my rifles are brand new.

Are the triggers decent on those packs?
I've been wanting one, but I would like to avoid the thumbhole models as I'm left handed. It looks like the Hunter models have the trigger moved to the rear like Saigas, and on Saigas those rear mounted triggers suck badly.

The trigger is really smooth. As is, I see no need to disassemble it to stone any of the surfaces.

Are there no iron sights at all on the .308?

Any idea if those rifles can be modified to accept a PSL or SVD magazine?

On my top rail Hunter, there is not. But I think a different model of the hunter there is.

Not sure. The Mag's are single stack on the 54r. The 308 is a 10 round stagger box mag.

Not sure why you would want SVD mags, they're more expensive than VEPR mags. PSL mags would be nice though.

Did you ever get to shoot these? Waiting for a range report.
Not a fan of AAC. I should have bought an Ops Inc.

Oops, sorry about that. Fired both of them. They are the smoothest cycling AK style rifles I've ever fired. Function was flawless with Black Hills 308 and handloads.
The 54r rifle i only fired Wolf black box. It functioned flawlessly also. I was very surprised at the very low recoil impulse of both rifles. Particularly the 54r.
I should have taken pics of the targets, but had a brain fart. Both rifles grouped 3" @ 200 meters. Probably could have done better,, much better. Weather was really crappy and scope kept getting rain covered. Didn't take the lens shade for the 10x super sniper.

Going to try and round up some 54r brass and try to handload for it.
Didn't fire any corrosive 54r through that chambered rifle.

May try to find a Robinson Arms plastic stock for the 308.

I like these 2 rifles. A lot.
