In terms of PreBans.....I still need an Egyptian Steyr Maadi and a Hungarian SA85M, but here are my three Polytech China Dolls.

Norinco NDM-86 in 7.62 NATO.  Chinese variant of the Dragunov SVD.

Tried to take new pics, but I suck.  This will have to do.

That's beautiful....
Since its a rare piece, you should post a description or model number for those who don't know.

Thanks. I added a little description.

I'd love to have one of each when it comes to the Chicom pre-bans.  Best AK's out there, even the stamped ones feel like a milled receiver.  Silky smooth action.. oh so sweet.  Makes a WASR feel like it's full of sand

What kind of bipod mounting do you have there?  Looks rather interesting, a reciever mount.

Link Posted: 2/25/2010 10:59:56 PM EDT
[#7]
There are two little indentions machined into each side of the receiver.  The bipod clamps into those.

It's the only way to put a bipod on one of these guns without it reducing accuracy from messing up the harmonics of the barrel.  I thought it would be odd feeling.. I'm used to bipods being towards the end of the barrel.  But this way is much better balanced.

Why so many of the same Egyptians?
You should sell me one, or trade me for one.

So Many, hell I sold 5 Maadis within the last 8 months or so.  The two top ones are Steyrs, one is NIB w/all manuals, certs etc not a single mark on it, the other I just picked up as a shooter.  The bottom one is a ban model ARM which has been unbanned w/a stock set from Pars Int.

Dude you knew you were asking for it when you posted your picture that's why.

I've also seen this same picture a few differnet times around here with some type of remark about why " I can" do it.

At any rate nice rifle before and after.  Also everyone elses!

No, but thank you for your opinion

BTW... cute little pictures and BS slogans like these are
dangerous to all of us. Anti-modernization is anti-gun.

I support your right to own an AK and configure as you wish... do I have your support?

I'm still an SKS purist, though!

No doubt, people that screw up an SKS should be beat with a rubber hose.

OK.  Both are Mitchell imports.  The top one is not really a pre-ban, it was one of the ones caught at the border when the ban went into effect.  But at least it was made before the ban.

While his gun doesn't fit my taste, it's not like it is permanently altered.  It could be changed back to original configuration in about 5 minutes.

I'd be kinda like WTF if he did stuff that required cutting up the receiver or welding crap to it or making it a pistol or something.  But his stuff is all easily reversible, so no big thing.

I can only imagine what some of you think about all of the collectible, pre-ban Norinco and Poly Tech M14s I have "violated" again and again...

It's not like I looked in some catalog and said hey, that looks cool and I can afford it... Nope, I used a Norinco MAK 90
as a test mule... that project helped me decide the best possible way to meet my particular wants and needs.... I am
extremely happy with the results... it's a real pleasure to fire this weapon and I plan to put thousands of rounds through it.

And dskeet is 100% correct, the changes that I made to my pre-ban were deliberately chosen because they are all easily reversed. I discounted all permanent alterations and modifications ... it may not be readily apparent, but I did think this out BEFORE I did it.

My fiancée and I are going to video the rifle cycling sub sonic ammo soon... I'll post a YouTube link for those who are interested.

I share your passion for the AK... please don't diminish it.
