I ALSO like 'em when the furniture doesn't match.
I have a few like that. I have matching upper and lower
but intentionally mix them all the time.
These SBRs have seen a lot of the range lately.
They are fun to shoot and with earplugs are
not as loud as the internet commandos say they are.

The rail is new so no scars yet.  TGI AMD-65 was my woods gun back in OH and has plenty of character.

It looks tacticool, but it belongs in this thread because I've never owned a rifle that I've used and abused so much. It's been through several carbine courses, a low light course, an urban survival course, it's been banged around in my truck, dropped, beaten through brush, seen rain, snow sand, you name it... And when I first built it, it was more of a novelty thing. I never suspected a $300 Draco pistol would become my favorite go-to rifle... I would trust my life to this thing, every day of the week.

outkast, I'm pretty interested in this 'urban survival class'.  How did this relate to your SBR usage?

I had just refinished the hand guards a week or so before that picture. That's the day I refinished it. And unless that was yet another screw joke, it's not missing anything.

It's missing the bottom rivet of the rear trunnion. There should be a total of 5 rivets that hold that type of rear trunnion - 4 short and 1 long. From what I can see, you only have 1 short rivet on the one in the picture.

See the difference?

Nice! You should look into getting a 14x1 to 24mm adapter and running a real 74 brake. You will notice the difference for sure! Make sure to order the 30 cal one if you do.

Thanks...A member from akfiles made the brake for me since I couldn't find one that's 5.25" long. I needed the extra length as I wanted the brake to be up against the gas block, works great but its also a flame thrower.

I like this thread.

Someone posted that they couldn't tell the difference between this and the tacticool thread.....I think the difference being that almost all of the guns in this thread are not completely changed over to modern.....meaning that most all have keep the same operational parts as they were designed to  (AK stock, right side charging handle, selector) while having additions that make the weapon system more functional.

A few other things I have noticed, most of these guns appear to have been shot quite a bit.....which I also think is pretty cool.  I have always been of the opinion that the rifle is a tool and the man is the real weapon.  It is nice seeing others share the same opinion.
