My M64. Rifle is 40 years old and is all original (minus the FCG and muzzle nut for compliance purposes), including the factory bluing and receiver (re-weld build). I love the wear and tear on this rifle and the fact that any I might add will only add to it's charm.

I am glad you saved it when you did, I recently went through and dumped a large # of pics that were chewing up my bandwith in one account, I guess some of those were more popular than I figured. For what its worth, its a great sling - I am about to put a traditional sling on and play with that (I constantly change things) and added a chunk of rail to the rt side and mounted the light there, rather than off the barrel. I also welded a bent washer on the saftey so it can be opperated with my strong side index finger. Thanks for the entertainment. |

I used to run the AK slung like an AR and would adjust based on gear and length needed. I switched to a traditional sling becuase I ended up using that 2 point on my shotgun and have started running the sling around my neck only. I also want to take a shot at modding a traditional sling to quick adjust...
I added a length of rail from walmart for 6$ - I drilled through the wood and anchored the nuts with epoxy. I used a pair of 6$ scope rings and a 15$ brinkman maxfire with a 10$ deal extreme drop in bulb. I was using a barrel clamp holder, but it began to move with use. People scoff at my 40$ light setup, but I have been using the same setup on a different shotgun and rifle for a while now. The blue tape "for me" just happens to coincide with what most Russians use for their 5.45s. You notice that my mags are numbered. Any magazine system I run is colour coded. The only magazines that do not have tape are the 55gn AR 15 mags, becuase that is my bread and butter. All my pistol mags are numbered in either red numbers for 9mm (all glock 17 mags) or Gold (all glock 21 mags) The 5.45 mags just ended up being blue. I have painted all my cases of ammo blue with spray paint and have all of my 50 cal cans colour coded and labeled. The main reason is so that anyone (cough wife cough) who looks at my shit can make a semi logical conclusion about what is in the cans and go from there. You will also notice that there is blue tape on the rifle some where to assist in showing what rifle takes which magazines.... I will take another updated pic here in a minute since I have been talking and not showing pics..... ![]() |

There is roughly 3/8" up/down play and 3/16" play side to side, both measured from the end (butt) of the stock. I could probably get some of that play out of it, but haven't messed with it. The folding mechanism itself still functions very well. |
