That's a lot of work to get an AK to be like an AR.

I have one on an AR and it makes sense there, but not on an AK when you could have had a folder. It is a cool rifle. Enhanced sights and adds a light without going all Tapco. The M4 stock is a decent design as it allows for different length of pull and shortening the rifle for carry in vehicles using off-the-shelf technology and parts. Also an AR trained troop doesn't have to relearn how to adjust his stock. Not the most aesthetic way of doing it though, and I have to agree that with no buffer assembly in the tube if could have probably been done better. In the end the stock works, and that's all that really matters. |

Seeing as how I don't care for side & under folders an any rifle, going with the receiver tube extension was an easy choice for me. Cheek weld is excellent, I have a recoil pad and the LOP is adjustable... it all makes perfect sense on my AK |

Well...if yer gonna twist my arm. Maybe I'll make it useful and include my opinions on the items I chose. I put it together a couple of years ago, I'd make some different choices now.
Lancaster Romy G-kit from Atlantic. It came with the side folder shown, and K-Var style poly furniture . Added: UTG quad rail –– not a fan of UTG but it's a solid rail, no wiggles/easy to install –– sucks not being able to remove the gas tube easily, and it's heavy –– plan on replacing with something lighter, don't need THAT much rail space "Beryl style" top rail from DPH –– older model, lightweight and solid –– requires bolt @ rear tang to remove for dust cover access, sits higher than I'd like, no more iron sights –– get the newer "dogleg" version w/ quick release & rear peep sight. Green laser from Firefield –– inexpensive (+-$50) impulse purchase, actually pretty cool, holds zero, daytime (bright, FL sun) visible to 25 yds+, cloudy day = 100 yds. –– bigger/heavier than I'd like –– if you MUST have a laser, it works, for cheap. ATN Ultra red dot –– has 1 m.o.a. dot and "EOTech style" circle/dot reticles that I like, holds zero, lightweight, and open field of view –– not bad for a cheapo (+-$100) but battery cover has to be tighted "just right" for it to work reliably CAA folding VFG –– solid and functional, has battery storage, I got the 5-position version and modified it to 3-position, folds forward for flat benchrest-shooting platform (), short enough for 30 rnd mags to go in easily. –– it is what it is CAA adjustable light mount –– it works ok, but it's big and ugly and I don't like it –– I plan on getting a Daniel Defense offset light mount, or maybe a Larue light/laser combo mount –– not sure yet.. Surefire 6P LED Defender light –– it's a Surefire, it's badass –– a little heavy but I like it, will light up my whole back yard, even behind that bush way back in the corner –– must be able to identify intruder as a "bad-guy" before you shoot Pistol grip is Israeli made from CTD –– VERY comfortable to shoot, lots of storage –– I recommend K-Var compensator #AK-351 –– chrome lined, effective, still allows you to attach your bayonet –– not sure how much flash it hides, haven't shot at night since i got it, but no fireball like the slant break would throw up –– I recommend G-2 trigger –– de-burred & polished to a mirror finish and moly-lubed –– very light, very fast, very crisp (for an AK) –– I like it a lot Originally Posted By mtr88:
